s excellent holiday accommodation for visitors wishing to experience the best of the Lake District, whether for walking, cycling, golf, sight-seeing or just relaxing. Our self catering holiday cottage is located just 5 minutes from Keswick in the popular village of Threlkeld. The 200 year old cottage, which was once the village school, is available all year round. Sleeping up to 6 people, the accommodation is deceptively spacious, and is decorated, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The cottage is very popular and we have many repeat visitors. It has a cosy lounge, with TV, DVD, video player and CD/hi-fi, separate dining room, fully fitted kitchen, with fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, utility/drying room with washer/dryer, and downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms (2 double bedrooms both with Kingsize beds and 1 twin). There is an en-suite shower room to one of the doubles and a separate large bathroom with toilet, sink and shower over the bath. The twin room also has a sink. The cottage benefits from oil central heating and all windows are double glazed. There is ample parking for 2 cars on the drive plus a garage for car/bike storage. It has both an enclosed front garden and rear patio with garden furniture and extensive views of Blencathra and Clough End. Also, from inside the cottage there are superb views across the fells and mountains from all windows. Threlkeld village is three miles from Keswick situated at the foot of Blencathra mountain, which is very popular with fell walkers. The cottage is ideally located for those looking for a picturesque base from which to explore the northern Lakes and fells with many walks and cycling tracks right on the doorstep. There are two good pubs, both serving excellent food, within a short stroll from the cottage. There is also a children's play area nearby. For keen golfers, just across the road is Keswick golf club, which is open to visitors.

This is probably the most accessible walking route that I have written about.

It's great for prams, bikes and wheelchairs. It's a former railway with some cool tunnels and bridges along the walk.

We really enjoy this walk and hopefully you will too.

Just spent a few days at the cottage putting up a better fence. All set for the busy season now ! Luckily we had some fabulous weather while we were there

Unfortunately our builder has hurt his shoulder so we wont be able to start on phase 2 of the patio in the next few weeks. You will still be able to enjoy the new vista and hopefully we can get a new date scheduled in as soon as he recovers.

So pleased to let you know we have just finished phase 1 of our patio refurb.
The old back porch has been taken down and a new back door fitted. What a difference to the view now from the patio.
Next March we will complete the work by having the whole area flagged and a new boundary wall/fence built

Sad to be leaving this lovely place but glad we stopped off for a quick walk above Grasmere on our way home as views superb today. We will be back in May for a holiday this time …I hope 😂

So here it is ..our new utility room. See the before and after photos. It was 10 days of hard work, doing it all ourselves, but we are really pleased with the end result. Hope you all like it !

We are up at the cottage doing some DIY and getting ready for all our lovely guests this year. We have removed some large shrubs and amazing how many bulbs are already showing. I will post some pictures of our main project in a few days when it’s complete 😀
