Normally the river outside East House Farm is very tranquil. But, after a dry spell, followed by heavy rain, the becks and river go into full spate. Leeds Canoe Club
It is April at Beckermonds, and lambing is about to begin. The local farmer, Philip, whose family have farmed the land for many generations, is rounding up some of his sheep. I am pretty sure that I would never have got the sheep through the far gate, let alone across the river! Thankfully, my job was simple, just stop them going the wrong way onto our very busy road (a handful of cars per day!). The view here is basically the view you will see from the windows of ‘East House Farm’ should you choose to stay at our cottage. I am, as always, in awe of the amount work our farmers do, and in the coming weeks, with lambing in progress, it is their busiest time of year.
