This post is very delayed. At the time I held off posting to let our Leirsinn Mhor guests, supporters, suppliers and followers know about Paul. It is however time. So many of you would have known Paul through various correspondence.
We created Leirsinn Mhor together and it was in fact Paul that had found this amazing, but very tired place for sale, after 3 visits we knew this house had to be our future.
This is what I wrote on my own page, please note I wrote this at the time. Paul passed May 12th. He was truly a remarkable man. My post...
My heart: the love of my life, Paul Paxton passed away last weekend.
I had a watch inscribed for him for Xmas. “A truly beautiful man.” I couldn’t sum him up for the watch face inscription and I can’t sum him up now. Those words at the time were the closest I could get.
Paul recently had his 500th appearance for his beloved BSFC. We had the event filmed. It gave him so much joy watching everyone’s messages. BSFC was as much as part of his life as I was. I loved his drive for it: so passionate for the game, for his team. He spoke about football being more than a game. It brings friendships off the pitch, which it really did in Paul’s case.
The weekend’s events came as a shock, as things had been continuing with the drug trial and his pain care was nearly under control. Sadly on Saturday morning things took a very unexpected turn and Paul was rushed to A&E. Unbeknownst to us he had been fighting pneumonia. On Sunday, the strongest man I have ever known lost his fight. I held on to him all night long and his family were with him by his side.
Paul was such an incredible human being. He was brave, strong, empathetic, kind; a listener, a gentleman, a goalie, a manager; interested in others, sensitive, thoughtful, caring, funny, advisor, confidante; a friend, a best friend: the list is too long...
Everyone knows that Paul gave me so much happiness. Meeting in 2002. Moving in with him within months of meeting. We spent so much time together. I had no idea how different and amazing my life was about to become, and it did just that. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d live the way we did, between Killin and Aberdeen, with many adventures and laughs along the way.
He was my soul mate.
I’m shattered by his loss. I can only but thank everyone; all our family and friends for their messages and support at this time. I will follow up next week with regards arrangements.
My best friend, Paul, I love you so very much. There are no words to say how much I’ll miss you.
