9am at Bookers Pond Irvine.

Hosted by the Ayrshire Armada SUP Club and a top team of volunteers.

It's Free to join and is suitable for all abilities and paddlesport craft.

It's not a race. Although it's timed this is only to inspire paddlers to use paddling for health and fitness gains us the added benefit of meeting new buddies on the water.

SUP SAFER COURSES * NEW DATES
We've listened to feedback and will now run a Paddle UK SUP SAFER course splitting over two Tuesday nights at Bookers Pond,Irvine. These courses are brilliant fun and highly informative covering key themes such as planning, reading the environment, weather tides, equipment and supporting other paddlers with rescues etc. Funded by DarrochBeQuest via RNLI Troon Lifeboat The Outdoor Partnership Ayrshire We are also running a Saturday course with spaces available morning or afternoon.

AQUAPADDLEUK 5KM EVENTS
Delighted to run these superb 5km timed events at our home patch, Bookers Pond,Irvine. The team of volunteers are lined up, kitted up, the online work is near complete so after a fun trial we're set for 18th August. Open to all craft not just SUP.

The islands are calling so we must go...
Our island Hopper is a cracker of an 8km day out starting from Luss, Loch Lomond. Exploring. Adventuring and Enjoying a slow paced guided trip in good company within a truly world class setting.
Check out our Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere Discovery tour at the end of August once the kids are back at school and life settles back down. Venue likely Loch Bradan, Loch Doon or Loch Ken.

As a certified Biosphere Guide we're super keen to showcase this stunning region for paddling and moreso how we can do so responsibly.

📢Delighted to announce we are officially certified by the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere following our Guides training course completed in April. As we operate guided SUP tours in such a beautiful region it was only fitting we align to the ethos and sustainability objectives of the GSA Biosphere gaining Leave No Trace accreditation in the process.
Next steps will be joining the Proud Supporter scheme and joining other guides/businesses to create memorable SUP experiences.

Our Intro to Paddleboarding sessions are industry leading where we help paddlers gain new knowledge and skills through fun, easy to understand activities which boost confidence and control. All within a very sheltered water environment.

☺️During our sessions we typically cover essentials such as; what to wear, planning a days paddling, board set up, leash safety, launching, learning to turn and paddling forwards and self rescues before heading on a mini journey to piece it all together and inspire adventure.

We offer sessions:
Tuesday nights 6-9pm at Bookers Pond, Irvine.
Saturday and Sunday mornings throughout July & August.
£30pp (kit hire extra £15)

Paddle Scotland qualified SUP Coaches with over 20years experience.

RESPONSIBLE IMPACT
SUP by nature can be a very sustainable mode of traveling around our prescious waterways. With well built boards and careful and considerate planning, our environmental impact is mostly negligible especially as we encourage car sharing and work in smaller groups.
Positively, with iSUPs, we can access little rubbish gyres or pollution collection spots otherwise hard to get to along our shores.
As per our environmental pledge we offer a 'take 5' on every ride out or tour where we build in 5 mins to scan and collect pollutants especially non biodegradable products such as flotsam, jetsam, fishing bi products and PET graded plastics which is increasingly abundant on our shores.
On our club ride out our volunteers collected a total of 113 items in 5bags ranging from aluminium cans, fishing lines, nets and food packaging to traffic cones and PET5 containers at the River Irvine, Ayrshire. The harbour entrance and further upstream is a particular problem as it catches the prevailing winds.

We want our group SUP experiences to have a positive meaningful impact on the local environment and just 5 mins scanning a 50m area can do so much to clean up the places we cherish.

As certified Leave No Trace practitioners we're hugely grateful to the team last night for their efforts in contributing to our pledge.

SUP SAFER COURSES - BOOKING NOW LIVE
Fellow Paddlers, we are now welcoming bookings for this years series of Paddle UK SUP SAFER courses scheduled in Ayrshire.
We are ever so grateful to DarrochBeQuest fund via RNLI Troon Lifeboat whom have heavily subsidised the courses for the paddling community where we are once again delighted to work in collaboration with Vincent McWhirter The Outdoor Partnership Ayrshire and Paddle Scotland who also support the administration and promotion of the certified courses.

IMPACT
Proudly, over 98 paddlers signed up last year which was the biggest programme of it's kind in the UK so we anticipate high demand in 2024. Statistics showed a huge decrease in RNLI/Emergency services call outs post SUP SAFER courses in 2023 from June until September as an impact from the practical training and advice.

By demand, we are offering 2 Family SUP SAFER sessions aimed at parents, guardians and young people who ideally have their own equipment but wish more input and support in creating safe and memorable days out paddling. See booking form for days/times.
Min age 8 years old.

Please also indicate if you require hire of equipment for the course which we have only a small stock of kit. *Surcharges apply*

Once we receive your completed form, we will be in touch with a confirmation email, joining instructions and online payment link to make a contribution to the course.
WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS:

From feedback last year many paddlers told us they would happily pay the commercial rate of the course if they are in a position to do so. Without judgement. Monies collected are passed to our funders Darroch BeQuest RNLI Troon Lifeboat station/to ensure ongoing support to the paddling community.

✅🙋🏻‍♂️We're delighted to receive our Leave No Trace practitioner award and ALIGN our practices and how we deliver our guided SUP tours to the ethos of the GSA Biosphere organisation and help conserve such a special region of Scotland.
📋Plenty of reminders throughout the training course around looking after people outdoors, our responsibilities to protect and conserve our environment as well as connect with some really cool, fellow minded businesses.

2024 - 'Bringing Cool People Together To Do Cool Things'.
Fellow paddlers, we hope you are all keeping well and staying in good health. We really appreciate you following our page this year and for joining us in 2023.
We've been busy behind the scenes programming for 2024, creating fresh new products, learning new skills, updating our knowledge and importantly, building our own website for our valued customers to enjoy what we have to offer this year. It's looking ace and we can't wait to share it. Proudly, developed and designed by ourselves.
We are once again delighted to announce our partnership with The Outdoor Partnership Ayrshire and RNLI Troon Lifeboat Water Safety Team Darroch BeQuest Fund who have been immense in funding another 10 British Canoeing SUP Safer Courses in Ayrshire this year, suitable for novices, families and experienced paddlers. These 4hour courses are a must for any paddler new to the sport and are industry leading in supporting safer paddling for all. More info to follow this month.
Heard of Parkrun? Well, We're delighted to partner with AquaPaddle UK offering regular FREE timed 5km paddles for Ayrshire locals wanting to get out on Sunday mornings to get fit, healthy and connect with other locals through paddlesport. Amazing to collaborate with Central Scotland Adventures Moray SUP Club SUP Inverness and Roll Outdoors as we collectively build the Scottish AquaPaddle venues around the country. Such an amazing community through Aquapaddle charity.
Speaking of venues, we're delighted to offer British Canoeing Scottish Canoe Association SUP Instructor Level One courses this year and thanks to Lara@ SCA and Adam@ Willowgate Activity Centre for their mentorship through the process. Our first course runs in March this year.
In preparing candidates for SCA/BC courses we are once again running our PaddlerToPro courses which have been such fun to support paddlers on their journey to qualifications.
Talking of journeys...well...have we got some cool venues to show you around this year starting in April. From exploring majestic castles to wild camping on intriguing remote islands, we have something for every one whether you are an Orca, A sea Lion or a Turtle paddler who likes to take it slow. Our tours will be bookable on our website for half day, full day and multi day guided tours with qualified and experienced guides.
Speaking of guides, as we spend so much of our time exploring, discovering and creating experiences within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere we are delighted to join the Biosphere guides programme to align ourselves with the ethos of operating within such a special place. Can't wait to join the training course and learn new stuff about the Biosphere.
Closer to home, we're planning to run Tuesday night SUP LABS, a Uk first in specialised SUP skills coaching with fully qualified BC Coaches and new for 2024, SUP Race Coaching tapping into our experience in sport science, tactical periodisation and racing across other disciplines. We look forward to what Scottish Canoe Association are doing in this space.
Our Intro to SUP, Intro to Rivers, Intro to SUP Touring and Night paddling sessions will be back in 2024 to support the growth of the sport welcoming newcomers to paddling. We aim to keep this as affordable as possible with a price freeze on last year.
We're looking forward to once again collaborating with Adventure Carrick during the summer months. Check them out online for a host of outdoor activities throughout Ayrshire.
But connecting with nature is our mantra. Bringing cool people together to do fun, cool and memorable things both responsibly and ethically is our goal this year. We are super stoked to offer the first '3P Nature Triathlons' in the Uk which combine peddling, paddling and summiting a peak. We can't wait to get these going in April and helping people on their fitness journey whilst experiencing local nature.
Huge year ahead but we always have the time for social paddles, some 121 connections and for a blether to help you plan a good day out on the water.

In response to the announcement that the Water Skills Academy (WSA) has gone into liquidation, British Canoeing, on behalf of all of the national associations Scottish Canoe Association, Canoe Wales and Canoe Association of Northern Ireland, has been proactively involved in discussions to secure a support package for WSA members.

NOVEMBER SUP TEC LABS
Don't pack the boards away just yet. Winter time can be an ideal time to refine technique and keep fresh for when the paddling season ramps up again in spring. Once again we'll be offering our industry leading SUP TEC LAB throughout November.
Sessions are short duration, highly engaging coaching themes delivered by professional and qualified British Canoeing SUP coaches within a relatively sheltered water environment at Bookers Pond, Irvine.

Each session is followed up with personal video analysis files sent by the coach to give you the visuals for watching over again.

Priced at our winter rates of £20pp.

After the session enjoy a chat with a mug of hot chocolate, coffee and Cake.
