Lovingly refurbished house full of character features and providing extensive space for guests, both indoors and out. We provide free Wi-Fi and TVs in every bedroom as well as indoor a

nd outdoor games and a range of books. South facing private courtyard with the sound of our stream provides an ideal spot for summer barbecues and soaking up the sun. The stunning huge enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs to play and explore. The extensive accommodation has a double aspect lounge with a wood burner for cosy winter nights in, a separate adjoining dining room for enjoying great food and company and a spacious kitchen breakfast room for casual dining and eating. All four bedrooms are also generous in size and all enjoy views across the village to the church with window seats to sink in the views. We provide two highchairs, travel cots, and a stair gate for younger guests.

Comments: What an absolutely fantastic place…. All spotlessly clean and tidy! Every kitchen utensil you can think of and more. Beautiful enclosed garden for the dogs to sniff about in. All in all perfect! Looking forward to the week ahead….

Olive and Spencer have staked their claims to a sofa each. Any minute now Olive is going to realise that the fire is not lit yet and she will be having a 'chat' ;-)

I just saw a post that was asking for some where that accepted 3 small dogs (as you know we don't have a limit on the number of dogs and don't ask their size, shape or hairiness) .

It got me thinking about those places that say "1 well behaved small dog only" How do you define small/medium/large? and what is the definition of 'well behaved'? I have a funny feeling our 3 would fail the last description 🤣

What are your thoughts?

Evenings at home in a Grade II Listed House in front of the woodburner, while your dogs hog the sofa space, watching movies on Netflix or perhaps go for dinner in one of our 2 village pubs, or just out for a mulled wine?

Local beaches for your dogs including a 3 mile long one just outside the village as well as a fully enclosed quarter of an acre garden. there is something for everyone.

The external walls of the garden are stone walls with bushes in front and 4ft, the 5 bar gate is covered in fine mesh to the ground. One side is 4ft high rabbit fencing with a hedge in front. The large enclosed courtyard on one side has the house, the 2nd side has a wall over 6ft, the 3rd side is a wall with a solid gate a minimum of 5ft, the 4th side has a stream with a low wall and garden gate into the garden.

Up to 8 human guests, we do have a limit on them in 4 bedrooms, 3 kingsize, and a twin. 4 reception rooms including a kitchen diner, lounge with Woodburner, and a separate dining room.

We have a dog buggy for dog guests with limited mobility and an American-style Fridge Freezer, great for raw fed dogs.

🐾 We welcome any number of dogs of all breeds and never ask for their 'breed' details, why would we?
🐾 Welcome dogs in every room in the house and on sofas and beds
🐾 Provide Dog holiday tags in case our guests' dogs take a wrong turn on a walk and do not know the area.
🐾 Provide dog towels in case you forget yours.
🐾 Provide dog bowls in case you forget yours.
🐾 Have outside dog washing area.
🐾 Provide details of a dog sitter.
🐾 Provide full details of the outside space so no nasty surprises! Rill has a quarter of an acre with 4ft stone walls and solid hedges with rabbit fencing behind them.
🐾 An American-style fridge freezer, great for raw feeders and details of a local raw food supplier so you don't have to bring it all with you.
🐾 Washing machine and tumble dryer, your dogs won't care but we know you do 😉
Our new addition is:
🐾 A dog buggy that can take dogs up to 80kgs free for our guests to borrow, we know that they take up a huge amount of space in your car.

We can accommodate up to 8 human guests and 2 infants (in travel cots, provided) in 4 bedrooms, 3 kingsize and a twin. There are also 4 reception rooms, including a kitchen diner, lounge with woodburner, and a separate dining room.

Our 2 village pubs welcome dogs and serve great food. The 3-mile-long beach just outside the village is dog friendly all year round, and it's just a 10-15 minute walk away.

Do your dogs like Blackberries? I have picked them for them in the past and only Sophie would eat them… Charlie decided of his own accord to start picking and eating them…. 🙅‍♀️🤣

Current guest Buddy loves the sea until it tries to ‘attack’ him 🤣 Reminds me of our first Gordon Setter, Harry 🌈 the 1st time we took him to the beach. He decided to do a poo at the water’s edge with his back to the sea… A gentle wave came in and started to rise up his back. The look he gave it was one of utter disbelief and disgust 🤣🤣🤣

It’s all about our dogs!

The three dogs above are the reason we brought Rill House. Archie (GWP), Izzy in the middle and Harry always loved our holidays in South Devon. We also own Grants Cottage in Dartmouth. We used to take them walking on Slapton Sands, our local 3m long beach, and used to drive out for dinner some nights for dinner at one of the two village pubs in Slapton. Parking in Slapton is limited so we often used to park on the road by Rill House’s garden and fell in love with it then with it’s huge garden, parking, stream and stunning looking outside. We used to say we would love it as our forever house, we knew our dogs would love the garden and how close it was to the beach.

Then one day a phone call from my husband, it was on the market! The first time we walked in through the door we knew it had to be ours. It took us 2 years to finally buy it and I cannot tell you how excited we were. The plan has always been to share our much loved home with guests and their dogs until we retire (sadly for us in many years time).

We have always welcomed any number of dogs of any breed to stay in any room in the house as we know how hard it was to find anywhere that welcomed more than ‘one small well behaved dog’ in the downstairs only.

Rill House is a holiday home in every sense of the word, we have tried to make it home from home for our guests decorating it with unique art work and photographs all framed just for the house. We have stocked the kitchen with everything you would need to cook what ever takes your fancy. Egyptian cotton bedsheets, luxurious bath towels, TVs in every bedroom and the thickest carpet. Archie and Harry are sadly no longer with us but they adored their holidays at Rill House, they would spend hours playing in the garden and loved nothing more than snoozing in front of a fire in one of the village pubs. Izzy who is 9 now has a new friend Sophie whose favourite game is chasing round the garden with a fallen palm frond in her mouth (she is only 12 months now). So that is ‘our story’ of how we fell in love with a beautiful old lady.
