With two bathrooms - one en suite for the king size bedroom and a family bathroom – there’s plenty of space for everyone. The Garden Rooms and The Loft are both one bedroom apartments sleeping 2 people. An additional 1-2 people can be accommodated on a sofa bed or on an extra mattress. All the properties are furnished to a high standard and fully equipped, offering a wide selection of essentials for children and babies including toys, cots and high chairs. NEW FOR SUMMER 2020 we have 3 Safari Lodges. Our Safari Lodges are nestled in the sides of a valley in our private estate. Each Safari Lodge has been considerately positioned to offer stunning, private views of the treetops and beyond into the valley. Our lodges offer a comfortable, private sanctuary for 6 guests within three bedrooms and include a log burner, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, lounge & wood fired hot tub.
Outside, there are 8 acres of historic gardens and woodlands to explore. With stunning, wide-reaching rural views across the rolling hills and big skies, Lower Coombe Royal combines countryside living with modern facilities. We welcome dogs too! Our previous canine guests have been particularly impressed with the great walks in the gardens, woods and surrounding countryside. Although Lower Coombe Royal is placed firmly in the heart of the countryside, we are within easy reach of many beaches, the South West Coastal path and Dartmoor. Our enviable location means there are plenty of great activities and days out close by. Lower Coombe Royal is easily accessible – just 20 minutes from the A38, 10 minutes to the award-winning Bantham surfing beach and 10 minutes walk to the beautiful market town of Kingsbridge.

This Sunday we are beginning with our Freshly laid eggs and reusable egg boxes 🍳
We have some very productive hens at LCR and we just love to share their delicious eggs with our guests- they make the perfect holiday breakfast treat and we reuse the egg trays to avoid wasteage. You can’t get more local than that 🤍

We are super impressed with the guests in Magnolia’s Christmas dinner yesterday ⭐️🎄
They got creative with what they had and cooked the meat in the air fryer; the Yorkshires in the BBQ; vegetables in the steamer on the hob; and all the other trimmings in the new airfryers!!

We thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce the properties at LOWER COOMBE ROYAL following our ⭐️GOLD DEVON TOURISM AWARD ⭐️
We have a total of 6 rental properties on site.
- ORCHARD LODGE 🍎
- MAGNOLIA LODGE 🌸
- CEDAR LODGE 🍁
- THE COACH HOUSE 🐾
- EUCALYPTUS LODGE (accessible) ⛰️
- THE LOFT 🌲
All the GLAMPING LODGES sleep 6 people in three rooms (bunk beds, cabin and king) 🏕️The interior consists of a well equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and flushing toilet, a bbq and terrrace area, a wood burning stove inside, comforts eg warm duvets, soft towels, cosy blankets and heated blankets in the beds, and hot water bottles!🍁 Even better still, they all have wood fired hot tubs which will be preheated and ready for you to jump straight in on your arrival! 🔥
We also have a quaint cottage called the COACH HOUSE which also sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms (bunk beds, king bed, twin/superking) 🌳It is a topsy-turvy house meaning the three bedrooms are on the ground floor and the kitchen-living-dining area is on the top floor. 🏡We have recently installed a hot tub into the coach house too which all our guests are loving 🩷
Our accessible lodge, EUCALYPTUS LODGE, sleeps 4 people and is fully accessible for anyone and everyone! It has an open plan kitchen-living-dining area with a cosy fire place 🪵and a large accessible bathroom too. It also has a hot tub with a hoist so that everyone can enjoy it!
Our final property is the LOFT and this sleeps 2 people (we can accommodate up to 4 on the sofa bed) This is a cosy apartment perfect for couples 🫶Unfortunately this is our only property without a hot tub at the moment but don’t worry the sea is nearby instead…🌊

Introducing us 👋
We are Jules and Paul, the owners of Lower Coombe Royal!
We moved to Devon in 2017 and took on the huge project of LCR! 🌿
Both of us also have other careers, Jules works as a GP and Paul is an Accountant. We love walking, gardening, cycling, swimming/surfing and eating yummy food 🚴🪴🌊🥾 We live with our 3 lovely children who are beginning to grow up and leave the LCR nest 🪺 We also have lots of chickens and ducks who provide us with plentyyy of eggs🍳
We began by renovating the house and then after a few years (during Covid) we added 3 of the glamping tents to the garden and we opened their doors in the summer of 2020 ☀️
It has been a great success and we have recently won the GOLD award in the Devon Tourism Awards which we couldn’t be more proud of!
Because we are aware of the lack of accessible holiday properties, we decide to build our accessible Eucalyptus Lodge which was added in May 2022 and it has been a real pleasure to offer a property which can provide so much joy! 🩷

Festive season is apon us!!🎄
Here’s a few Christmas markets around Lower Coombe Royal to check out during your December stay ❄️
This post will tell you all you need to know about the equipment and accessibility of Eucalyptus! 🤞
2- Parking for up to 3 cars immediately outside Eucalyptus Lodge.
3- There is a level threshold with no steps. The doorways are all 850mm wide.
4- Floor Plan.
5-The front door opens out into a spacious hallway with coat racks- one lower level one higher level.
6-Wet room with non slip floor. There is a grab/shower rail with an additional low level holder for the shower head and a fold down shower seat.
7-A wheel under, wall hung sink.
8-A toilet with one fixed and one fold down grab rail. There is space to the right of the toilet for a wheelchair to enable transfers.
9-The master bedroom has an electric adjustable split king size bed.
10/11-The second bed has 2 single beds which can be configured in a number of different layout to provide the best access for your personal needs. There is plenty of space to manoeuvre a mobile hoist around the room.
12-The hallway leads to an open plan living, dining and kitchen area.The dining table can seat up to six people. It is possible to push a wheelchair underneath.There is a large sofa bed in the lounge. We also have a Rise Recliner chair.There are 2 large sliding French doors leading out onto a large decked area with undercover outdoor seating area with a Gas BBQ.
13- There are low level drawers containing the crockery, pots and pans etc.The kitchen has a mid level Neff Slide and Hide oven with pull out oven shelf.
14/15- There is a wood fired hot tub.We have a hoist to enable our less mobile guests to get into the hot tub. We do have a pool seat which can be used by our more ambulant guests who can’t manage steps but who do not have their own sling.

A sneak preview of the patio renovations at The Coach House at Lower Coombe Royal. The garden has been extended and a new patio has been laid to make space for a wonderful wood fired hot tub. There will soon be a hot out door shower too for getting clean after a day at the beach! The fencing for either end is being made to make it a safe enclosed space for your children and dogs. The terraced bank is already planted with beautiful mature rhododendrons and camelias and I’m looking forward to adding primroses, ferns and lots of wild flowers. Lower Coombe Royal is on the edge of the market town of Kingsbridge, a lively community with a range of local amenities two minutes by car and ten minutes by foot. It offers restaurants, cafes, delis, boutique clothes shops, a local fishmongers, butchers and grocers. A local farm market is held every fortnight.
Lower Coombe Royal is set in 8 acres of historic gardens and woodlands; there is children's play area with trampoline and a football pitch.
Our family moved to live at Lower Coombe Royal 3 years ago. Since then we have been very busy renovating the house, gardening, building Glamping Lodges and enjoying the beaches and surrounding countryside.It really is a magical place to live.
On site we have the Garden Rooms (a one bed apartment in the lower ground floor of the main house), The Loft (a one bed apartment above our garage). There is a 3 bedroom cottage called the Coach House which sleeps 6 people.At times the main house may also be available to rent out.
