With two bathrooms - one en suite for the king size bedroom and a family bathroom – there’s plenty of space for everyone. The Garden Rooms and The Loft are both one bedroom apartments sleeping 2 people. An additional 1-2 people can be accommodated on a sofa bed or on an extra mattress. All the properties are furnished to a high standard and fully equipped, offering a wide selection of essentials for children and babies including toys, cots and high chairs. NEW FOR SUMMER 2020 we have 3 Safari Lodges. Our Safari Lodges are nestled in the sides of a valley in our private estate. Each Safari Lodge has been considerately positioned to offer stunning, private views of the treetops and beyond into the valley. Our lodges offer a comfortable, private sanctuary for 6 guests within three bedrooms and include a log burner, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, lounge & wood fired hot tub.

Outside, there are 8 acres of historic gardens and woodlands to explore. With stunning, wide-reaching rural views across the rolling hills and big skies, Lower Coombe Royal combines countryside living with modern facilities. We welcome dogs too! Our previous canine guests have been particularly impressed with the great walks in the gardens, woods and surrounding countryside. Although Lower Coombe Royal is placed firmly in the heart of the countryside, we are within easy reach of many beaches, the South West Coastal path and Dartmoor. Our enviable location means there are plenty of great activities and days out close by. Lower Coombe Royal is easily accessible – just 20 minutes from the A38, 10 minutes to the award-winning Bantham surfing beach and 10 minutes walk to the beautiful market town of Kingsbridge.

Wondering where to eat whilst staying at LCR… we got you 🤝

Here are just a few of our fav restaurants around the area :

1- Check out the Journey’s End Inn in Ringmore for a banging Sunday roast with all the trimmings! 🍴
2- Wild Artichokes, Kingsbridge is a fun, sharing concept with high quality local dishes. Everyone sits on long tables and eats communally!
3- The Old Warehouse, Kingsbridge - a lively restaurant/cafe/bar which has great live music events as well as Mead (alcohol made using honey)which is brewed on site 🎸
4- The Bull inn, Totnes has some of the best and most local food in the area! If you go make sure to go with a friend and share lots of dishes 🫶
5- For a traditional Devonshire cream tea check out Avon Mill cafe (the savoury cream tea is also deeelicous 😋)
6- Britannia at the beach, Beesands - serves fab fish and chips and sea food which you can take away or eat in🐟🍟
7- To satisfy those seafood cravings check out the Crab Shed,Salcombe 🦀
8- Valley view cafe, Loddiswell- perfect for brunch, lunch or a slice of cake! They also have a farm shop and butcher on site 🍰
9- The Cove, Hope cove -find burgers, pizzas, fajitas, seafood and more here… a cosy restaurant/bar in the quaint village of Hope Cove ❤️
10- Maha Bharat, Kingsbridge is the best curry house with the friendliest staff 🥘

A review of our accessible Eucalyptus lodge 🌿

It really is wonderful to hear when you have enjoyed a stay at LCR and especially Eucalyptus lodge as we know how few and far between accessible properties are! We try our best to provide as many things as possible to make LCR accessible to everyone. For example, we have profiling beds and hoists in eucalyptus lodge ❤️

Did you know we have some friendly hens at Lower Coombe Royal? 🐓
Most of our chickens are ex-battery hens and we have given them a better life at LCR 💛
If your lucky you may get some freshly laid eggs on arrival and these are definitely local!
Feel free to say hi 👋 to the chickens if you see them wandering around the grounds. They do like to explore!!🌳🌿🗺️

The Coach House is our quaint, 200 year old cottage that sleeps up to 6 people in three bedrooms 🛌. It has two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with a bright living-dining area! ☀️
If you are looking for a stay in nature 🌿but aren’t quite ready for the glamping experience then the Coach House may be for you. You will have access to our beautiful 8 acre garden 🌳🌷 and we have even recently installed a wood-fired hot tub 🛁 🪵and an outdoor shower as well as expanding and fencing off the patio area to provide a welcoming and secure outdoor area for our guests 💛

This property is ideal for families with kids and we are dog friendly too 🐾

Access for All path from Totnes to Dartington. A beautiful flat 2 mile route which is completely wheelchair accessible and flat until Dartington Arts Centre. A sneak preview of the patio renovations at The Coach House at Lower Coombe Royal. The garden has been extended and a new patio has been laid to make space for a wonderful wood fired hot tub. There will soon be a hot out door shower too for getting clean after a day at the beach! The fencing for either end is being made to make it a safe enclosed space for your children and dogs. The terraced bank is already planted with beautiful mature rhododendrons and camelias and I’m looking forward to adding primroses, ferns and lots of wild flowers. It was the perfect calm Sunday morning to be out on the Kingsbridge Estuary, so we took the opportunity to take our boat down to Salcombe for breakfast. Our Story

Lower Coombe Royal is on the edge of the market town of Kingsbridge, a lively community with a range of local amenities two minutes by car and ten minutes by foot. It offers restaurants, cafes, delis, boutique clothes shops, a local fishmongers, butchers and grocers. A local farm market is held every fortnight.

Lower Coombe Royal is set in 8 acres of historic gardens and woodlands; there is children's play area with trampoline and a football pitch.

Our family moved to live at Lower Coombe Royal 3 years ago. Since then we have been very busy renovating the house, gardening, building Glamping Lodges and enjoying the beaches and surrounding countryside.It really is a magical place to live. On site we have the Garden Rooms (a one bed apartment in the lower ground floor of the main house), The Loft (a one bed apartment above our garage). There is a 3 bedroom cottage called the Coach House which sleeps 6 people.At times the main house may also be available to rent out.
