Notice to Kirkcudbright Residents

We are holding our annual Tattoo on Saturday 24th August and as part of this, there will be a fireworks display at approximately 10pm for 5 minutes. The fireworks are situated at the High Park and are carried out by a professional company, who will use the quietest fireworks they can, but we wanted to forewarn those with nervous pets etc.

Please pass onto anyone who stays in the area around the High Park.

If you're looking to come along to the Tattoo, you can buy tickets at www.ticketsource.co.uk/kirkcudbright and from the Festivities Charity Shop or the Visitor Information. Details about the event can be found on our page.

Opening this Saturday 29th June… 👀

Kirkcudbright Galleries are delighted to present ‘Eye to Eye: Sir Henry Raeburn’s Portraits.’ Sir Henry Raeburn (1756-1823), widely recognised as Scotland’s foremost and finest portrait painter, takes his place in the pantheon of the very best in the acclaimed tradition of British portraiture.  His portraits are as admired as those by Allan Ramsay, Thomas Gainsborough, Joshua Reynolds, George Romney, and Thomas Lawrence.
From about 1000 known works, painted in his most prolific years from c.1780 to his death, Raeburn is celebrated particularly for his paintings of men. This exhibition will challenge that premise and show characterful paintings of women and examples from his very fine work illustrating children.
The exhibition includes approximately 40 works, drawn from both public and private UK collections.  Amongst the latter – most from collections in southern Scotland – will be works never before seen in public. This exhibition is Free entry, donations welcome.
Opening Hours: This exhibition is open during Kirkcudbright Galleries Summer Hours, these are: Monday – Saturday: 10am – 5pm, Sundays: 11:30-5pm.
