True devotees of the Art Tour, and Kirkcudbright fashionistas, will recall my devotion to these, my favourite trews, purchased many moons ago from Alison’s Showroom. Well, they have finally burst their banks so I am off to charming Dumfries taylors next week. One final blast today, why wouldn’t I ? Note to self, only buy quality !! (Phone looks a bit past it too 🙈😂)

We are launching a fund raising campaign today with a view towards improving the sadly neglected entrance to the church and other vital works within and around the building and graveyard. Had a mini-mini break in Edinburgh. Took in shopping, walking and ‘culcha’ at St Giles Cathedral. Super supper Rollo Restaurant & Wine Bar On my own, but not made to feel at all uncomfortable. Loved the food, music, crowd … endless stream on a Monday evening… faultless and delightful service. I had forgotten there was life outside D&G. Galleries tomorrow 🖼️

Great crowd, thanks to you all, and our wonderful volunteers, who make all things happen 🙏🙏

The Birth of the US Navy: On This Day
On 13th of October 1775 the Continental Congress in Philadelphia passed a resolution creating the Continental Navy . Today that date is celebrated as the birth of the U.S. navy.
The Navy was to protect American trade from blockade by the ships of the British Empire and would also make it possible to intercept ships laden with supplies for the king’s forces in North America.
Born at Arbigland John Paul Jones is often referred to as the "Father of the American Navy", Jones is regarded by several commentators as one of the greatest naval commanders in American military history.
