Had a mini-mini break in Edinburgh. Took in shopping, walking and ‘culcha’ at St Giles Cathedral. Super supper Rollo Restaurant & Wine Bar On my own, but not made to feel at all uncomfortable. Loved the food, music, crowd … endless stream on a Monday evening… faultless and delightful service. I had forgotten there was life outside D&G. Galleries tomorrow 🖼️

Great crowd, thanks to you all, and our wonderful volunteers, who make all things happen 🙏🙏

The Birth of the US Navy: On This Day
On 13th of October 1775 the Continental Congress in Philadelphia passed a resolution creating the Continental Navy . Today that date is celebrated as the birth of the U.S. navy.
The Navy was to protect American trade from blockade by the ships of the British Empire and would also make it possible to intercept ships laden with supplies for the king’s forces in North America.
Born at Arbigland John Paul Jones is often referred to as the "Father of the American Navy", Jones is regarded by several commentators as one of the greatest naval commanders in American military history.

CAR BOOT ART

A pop-up exhibition by emerging artists from Dumfries & Galloway.

This exhibition is the result of a project by ROAM (Space), an emerging artists collective based in Dumfries & Galloway and supported by Upland. The group invited local emerging artists to get involved in a creative challenge - to come along to a local car boot sale, choose some items, and then make an artwork out of their newfound treasures. Car Boot Art - the exhibition, is the result of this experiment!

Launched my Graveyard Walkabout at St Michael’s Church, Dumfries today as part of a Doors Open event. It was just like old times, I even had some past Art Tour clients with us. Doing it again tomorrow, Sunday, at 1.30 pm if you fancy meeting a few long term residents at the Kirkyard.

Last Arty Monday of the year at St Michael’s Dumfries. Please come along as it promises to be dry … and sunny ! There will be the opportunity to visit Burns open Mausoleum, I can practice my new Graveyard Tour, if you will indulge me, and there will be tea, of course. Sketch in the Kirk or you can paint and use colour in the graveyard. I think I can honestly say it must be one of the most beautiful graveyards in the world. I do hope you can join us 1-4 pm

How lovely are these words from a past participant of the Art Tour and now annual visitor… from USA ? I have just spent a few days in Kirkcudbright, a reminder of what a special place is was, is and forever shall be. So happy to be a small part of this beautiful town ❤️
