My favorite Cafe on Burray is now reopened.
So as I was passing it would be rude not to call in.
Look what we found on today's tour. A little out of our way but worth the walk to find a puffin. My first one i have seen in 2024.

Finally got the chance to see the two Risso's Dolphins. Which have been swimming around the 4th Churchill Barrier this week. I wasn't dissapointed and spent 30 minutes watching them swim up and down the barriers.

Another snow bound day at Trike Towers. Here is my view whilst having my breakfast this morning. Sorry about the sound quality. At least the birds have something to eat this morning.
As I am posting this a blizzard is now blowing and I cannot see 50 meters so I have made an executive choice to not take the Trike out today.
Here at Trike towers I have decided not to take the trike out for a "spin".
Notice the "Birds" across sitting on next doors chicken coop, we have just been feeding the wild birds and they are waiting for me to go back inside, so they can continue eating what we have put for them.
Normal Trike service will resume soon.
On the 4th day of Christmas I bring you stormy waters off Deerness, Orkney. The remains Of Storm Gerrit. Luckily this rarely happens outside of winter time so doesn't effect our Trike trips.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, Orkney Trike Tours concludes by bringing you Kenny Firths Christmas lights. For 30 years, Kenny has created a Christmas wonderland in aid of various charities, with visitors being encouraged to leave donations.
After 30 years, this will be his last display, and Friday night is the last day you will be able to see them.
So today's offeringis a positive one where one man's efforts have given so many a wonderful christmas display and at the same time helped raise money for charity. Thank you Kenny.
Here is a quick video of the days "Mens Ba" won by Liam Robertson for the Doonies. #Ba #visitorkney #Kirkwall #Orkney #newyear2023 #footballgame
On the 6th Day of Christmas, Orkney Trike Tours brings you the Kirkwall tractor run undertaken yesterday, 29th December 2022. It is a charity run this year it had 179 vehicles taking part.
Went to Scapa beach this morning to look at the Royal Oak Memorial as it is nearly the anniversary of its sinking in the Early hours of the 14th October 1939.
I also noticed the navy bomb disposal group are up here and on Scapa peir getting organised to change the ensign on the War Grave.
I also filmed these birds diving into the water feeding on fish only a few feet from the beach. I wonder how they new how shallow the water was where they were diving.
Such a peaceful scene yet 83 years ago we were soon to see so much death and destruction right near this spot.
War is not good and should be avoided if at all possible but sometimes it becomes inevitable.
"Riding of the marches," after several hours Riding the Kirkwall boundary the horses and their riders return to St Magnus Cathedral to be dismissed and the flag bearer presented a commemorative certificate.
It's good to see Orkney return to a more Pre Covid normality.
The Ness of Brodgar site is starting to shut down, only 3 open days left if you want to see what they have been doing this year. Notice the drone taking end if dig photos before the polythene goes back on.
Heat wave what heat wave, nearly got to 23C today now just raining this evening.
Here is one minutes video to help you contemplate the meaning of life.
For tonight this is the view from my back door of "Orkney Trike Towers"
I will just let the film do the talking.
Enjoy.
