A very busy few weeks but a wee catch up of a selection of some of the stags taken over the final couple of weeks of the season. Straight into a few busy weeks at hinds and walked up game days. Thanks to all my clients new and old, your custom is very much appreciated and look forward to seeing most again next season, won't be long in coming round again. 😊

An interesting find today when cleaning my clients antlers.
This stag was stood perfectly broadside with head facing straight ahead when the shot was taken at 220 yards into the chest.
The bullet has taken a 90 degree turn upon entry into the chest cavity and had managed to travel through the neck and into the head, enough force to punch a hole through the skull but not enough energy left to exit the skull. The bullet was found inside the brain cavity whilst removing the brain pre boiling.

Been a busy couple of weeks on the hill, rut is on and off and a few days of really good activity. Had some new clients out and some returning clients all have gone away happy with some very special stags taken.
Also, I would like to congratulate a pair of returning clients who got engaged whilst on their stalking trip with me. Really made up for you both, you are a great couple and I wish you many happy years together.

Another pea soup day. Well done Lee for getting this magnificent stag and his first stag ever. A dificult day with conditions against us but all worked out in the end.

Jake surveying the situation today. A day out for grouse over pointers today for a father and son trip from Norway. Started off pretty miserable with the weather but ended up a cracking afternoon.

My first pair of binoculars bought way back in 1999.
Just had a new lease of life with a full service and cracked lens replaced from the manufacturer.
Back home and looking like a brand new pair.

Recently had Penn over from the states. He is used to hunting white tail deer from highseats but wanted to try his hand at stalking a Scottish stag.
We had a long stalk into the group this lad was in and then a long wait for him to feed in a little closer to us as 400 yards was as close as we were getting.
After what felt like an eternity getting bitten by clegs and midges they eventually fed towards us but unfortunately in such a tight group no safe shot could be taken, they fed to under 100 yards from us when this lad stepped clear and was taken. A great couple of days out (apart from the horrendous showers on day 1), and lots of exchanges in stories and how different everything is from the UK to USA in regard hunting and fi****ms.

Biggest piece of advice for those looking to get into shooting, wear hearing protection! Even if it’s only 1 shot you’re firing. Something I wish had been drummed into me when I first started shooting, I perhaps wouldn’t have ended up with these! I still see so many younger generation shooting without hearing protection.

Carlsberg don't do hill bucks, but if they did

Beautiful hill buck for my guest, difficult stalk in but got there in the end.
Stalked into this boy twice last season but left him both times as he had at least 3 doe's to himself. Hopefully some of his genes passed on for future stalking efforts.

An absolute belter again this morning, and would have been a shame not to get this old boy, obviously suffering with a lack of teeth, needs a foot trim, and could do with cleaning his erse. Great stalk in through the soaking grass, and perfectly placed shot from my guest.
