Found this poor little guy lying on his side on the track in our glamping site whilst servicing the hot tubs in readiness for our next guests.

He was completely unresponsive and at first couldn’t see any signs of life… On closer examination there were minute movements of his spines 😅

Claire rang the local conservation guys and we were advised to get him straight to the local vet which we duly did.

The vets are keeping him overnight to warm him up and check him over and then he’ll be off to the local hedgehog rescue guys.

The recent unseasonably warm temperatures have resulted in a lot of these little critters waking up too early from hibernation. The sudden drop in temperatures certainly caught this fellow out and he was in serious jeopardy from the cold and from predators so he had a very lucky escape!

Rali Ceredigion 5th to 8th September 2025

The FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) is returning to Wales in 2025 after the stunning success of last year’s JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, which brought the major international competition back to the country for the first time in 28 years.

With a special stage starting and finishing just 3 miles from us and passing within a mile on 6th September, Pontfaen is the ideal base for rally fans to attend this 3 day event. We offer a range of properties, all with private hot tubs, from 2 and 4 berth glamping pods and our 2 bedroom lodge, ideal for couples and families through to Pontfaen Villa which sleeps up to 22!

Just 2 miles from Pontfaen Villa!

Our gardens were originally designed and maintained by Stuart, their head gardener 😎

In case anyone is interested in watching, Cae Hir Gardens will be on tonight's edition of ITV Coast & Country at 7pm. It was filmed way back in May, but because of the football is only being shown now, in mid summer! It's on ITV 1 Wales, but if you have access to ITVX then it can be watched anywhere in the UK :)

Pontfaen Villa sleeps up to 22 in 10 bedrooms! Situated in beautiful landscaped gardens some 8 miles from the Cardigan Bay coastline and just a short drive to New Quay and Aberaeron.

The spa cabin features a large hot tub and sauna whilst the games room is equipped with a pool table, retro arcade machine, casino games and an air hockey table. Massive banquet tables indoors and out, gas and charcoal BBQ’s on the patio and a full size range cooker in the kitchen make it easy to cater for everyone. The 15 seater sofa and 65” 4K TV with cinema sound system in the lounge are perfect for movie nights.

4 dogs welcome (+£20 each). Please enquire if you wish to bring more than 4 as we can be flexible depending on size and breed.
