Born on this day 1818 at Blaenplwyf farm - yes here!

Joseph Jenkins who famously emigrated to Australia.

Jenkins (1818 – 1898) was a farmer who also won prizes at Eisteddfodau for his poetry. When he was 51, Joseph emigrated to Australia, leaving behind his wife and family and initially became a Swagman, travelling from farm to farm to find work. He later worked as a street cleaner in the town of Maldon in Victoria, returning to Wales when he became homesick at the age of 76. During his time in Australia, Jenkins kept a diary and he posthumously became famous after they were published as the Diary of a Welsh Swagman.

In 1994 a water drinking fountain and plaque were unveiled at the railway station in Maldon, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his departure from the town.

Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus i bawb! 💜
Todays is St Dwynwen’s Day - the Welsh Patron of Love! 💜

Dwynwen was the prettiest of King Brychan Brycheiniog's 24 daughters. She fell in love with a local lad called Maelon Dafodrill, but King Brychan had already arranged for her to marry another prince. Maelon took the news badly, so the distraught Dwynwen fled to the woods to weep, and begged God to help her. She was visited by an angel who gave her a sweet potion to help her forget Maelon, which happened to turn him into a block of ice.

God then granted Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was that Maelon be thawed; her second wish was for God to help all true lovers; her third wish was that she would never marry. In gratitude, Dwynwen became a nun and set up a convent on Llanddwyn Island, a beautiful little spot on Anglesey. Her name means, 'she who leads a blessed life'.

Finally!! ‘Ara bach a bob yn dipyn’! ⭐️
After being open for just over a year we have finally got round to pay a professional photographer to take beautiful, fitting photos and drone images of Podiau Blaenplwyf Pods 📸
We had a certain amount of photos that we wanted captured…thank you so much to Tim from for being so patient and to just get on with the job and literally working all night!!! Diolch! 🤗
He said “they say not to work with children or animals”…but he managed to do both last night with ease 👌👌
We can’t wait to see the finished products! 😁🐶👫
A very special thanks to our wonderful models too…and especially for sitting in the very warm hot tub…on the hottest day of the year so far!! 😅 👍🏻🛁
