🟣 172 CUSTOMER NOTICE - 23/9/22 🟣

Due to a serious accident on the A749 between Kingsgate and Cathkin Roundabout our 172 will not be able to operate the normal route from East Kilbride to Halfway. Until the road has been cleared services in the direction of Halfway will be operating via the Expressway and Blantyre to Halfway where passengers will be able to get off in reverse order.

Services in the direction of East Kilbride will operate as normal.

Please note we expect substantial delays to our 172 service until the accident has been cleared.

Hobson Travel apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will return to normal route ASAP.

🟣 172 - URGENT NOTICE 🟣

Monday 29th August 2022 - 10:07

Due to an unforseen fault arising with the vehicle used on our 172 service, we are sorry to announce that this service has currently been suspended as we have had to take the defective vehicle off the road.

Another vehicle has been dispatched from our depot to take up the service and we will resume ASAP. We will post an update on this page.

Hobson Travel apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience this will cause to our customers.

🟣 172 CUSTOMER NOTICE - 8/8/22 🟣

Please note due to the closure of Greenlees Road at Kirkhill Station, service 172 will operate the following diversion:

From Halfway - normal route along Greenlees Road before diverting onto Vicarland Road, Cairns Road, East Greenlees Road, Greenlees Road and returning to normal route at Western Road.

From East Kilbride - same route as above but in reverse.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please note due to the Glasgow Fair Monday holiday on 18th July 2022, SPT contracted services will be operating a Sunday timetable

As a result, on this day our 172 service will NOT operate.

Normal service will resume on Tuesday 19th July 2022.

We are pleased to announce that from 17th July 2022, Hobson Travel have been awarded the contract to operate Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) service 47/47A Carluke Local/Carluke - Lower Braidwood.

Due to the Glasgow Fair Monday holiday on the 18th July, there will be no service on this day as per the contract specifications. We will commence operation of this service on Tuesday 19th July 2022.

No changes will be made to the route or timetable at this time. Hobson Travel will continue to offer change on this service for an initial period. However please be aware that a cash vault will be introduced within a few weeks and at such time we will no longer offer change on this service. We will give ample notice of the date this changeless system will be introduced. Remember you can pay using cash and contactless debit and credit cards on board. 💳💵

Due to a serious accident, our 172 is unable to service Western Road, Whitlawburn on its journey to Halfway. The service will operate along Greenlees Road before rejoining the normal route at its junction with Western Road.

Services in the direction of East Kilbride are unaffected and will operate as normal.

Hobson Travel apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will return to normal route ASAP.

Please note due to public holidays on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June 2022, SPT contracted services will be operating a Sunday timetable.

As a result, on both mentioned days our 172 service will NOT operate.

Normal service will resume on Saturday 4th June 2022.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of no service on both these days. As we operate this service on behalf of SPT, we are governed by the rules laid out in the contract.

🟣 172 CUSTOMER NOTICE 🟣

🌨 WEATHER DISRUPTION 🌨️

Unfortunately due to overnight snowfall leading to poor road conditions on Croft Road and Rosebank drive, our 172 service will be unable to serve Cairns at this time.

To Halfway, the service will not turn into Croft Road at the junction with Hamilton Road, but will proceed along Hamilton Road and return to normal route at the junction with Hamilton Crescent. This will apply in reverse on route to East Kilbride.

Please be assured we do not take the decision to curtail our service lightly, however the health and safety of our staff, customers and other road users is of upmost importance to us. We will be reviewing the situation throughout the day and will return to normal route ASAP.
