Early start for me today as we awake to the news that one of the world’s largest airports has shut and won’t reopen today.

There are currently 120 aircraft in the air which will be diverted or return to their point of origin.

More than 1350 flights in and out of LHR have been cancelled already.

I’ve already been in contact with all my clients who are due to travel today and over the weekend and we will look after any rebooking and alternative routes where possible. They all know that they don’t have to try to get hold of their airline or worry about onward transfers and hotels as that’s all taken care of for them.

It’s a stressful time for people and I can already see posts about people needing to join cruise ships tomorrow, or Scotland fans stuck in Athens after last nights win ⚽️ .

My advice (if you haven’t booked with me) is to sit tight and wait for your airline to confirm what their plans are. The airlines have a policy for rebooking / refunding / getting people home but it’s also a good plan to check your travel insurance too.

Of course, booking with a trusted travel professional means that they will have sorted all of this for you already.
