As the seasons change, so do our hours. Starting 16th September, join us from Wednesday to Sunday, 11 AM to 11 PM, with delicious food served from 12 noon until 9 PM. Whether it’s a leisurely lunch, dinner, or a cozy evening drink, we're here to make your mid-week to weekend memorable!

📣 TWO WEEKS TO GO 🚨 Aberdeenshire’s Doors Open Days Festival is back for 2024 - visit https://www.doorsopendays.org.uk to view the full range of those taking part.

The festival is an annual event celebrating the wealth of architecture, culture and heritage across Aberdeenshire.

Participating venues and their volunteers offer free access to sites and events across Scotland. The festival aims to ensure that Scotland’s built, and cultural heritage is made accessible to everyone living in and visiting the country.

Across the country doors will be opened wide, welcoming visitors to uncover hidden gems and experience familiar places through fresh eyes. Visitors can access a free programme of talks, walks and tours right on their doorstep.

Aberdeenshire’s Doors Open Days festival will take place on 21st and 22nd September 2024.

Aberdeenshire has an exciting programme of events and activities this year, including the addition of many new venues.

Within Aberdeenshire 58 venues are taking part.

We are getting close to the opening of our first hideaway in the coming weeks. Here is an overview of what you'll find at The Howe Hideaways

🛖 Self-catering accommodation in a nature-filled green space with the feeling of tranquillity and privacy in the countryside
🛏 Space for 2 to 4 people to sleep within the cosy mezzanine bunk or double sofa bed in the open living area
🍽 Fully equipped kitchenette with oven, hob and fridge freezer
🚿 Toilet and shower room within each of the hideaways
🪑 Private decking and garden area with outdoor seating
🌿 Explore the hideaways site with walks around the grass meadow
🧘‍♀️Plenty space for picnics, sports or relaxation

Finishing touches are coming together

At long last we have had some brighter weather. 🌤️

Enjoyed a lovely walk today at Glen Dye Moor which is just under 15 minutes by car from The Howe Hideaways. Lots of wildlife spotting including a close encounter with an amazing Kite 🦅

We are known to get rain in Scotland but this winter has been particularly wet and wild 🌧️- unfortunately weather conditions have set our opening back a bit but we are on track to welcome guests from June this year. Keep your 👀 open for our launch date.

End of a busy week of site construction here so we popped along to the Glenesk Hotel for tea. Fabulous food and an impressive whisky collection which includes one of our favourites - the local Fettercairn Whisky

Caring for the environment and supporting wildlife is really important to us. We’ve planted native hedging & wildflowers and plan to install a nature pond to encourage the birds, bees and wee beasties to thrive.

Delivery day 😁. The first delivery of timber has arrived. Excited to see construction take shape over the next few weeks. The hideaways have been designed to our own layout. They will sleep 2-4 people with a kitchenette, toilet and shower. We’ll keep you updated with the build. 🛖

The iconic Dunnottar Castle is just 20 minutes away near the town of Stonehaven - easily accessible by bus, car or train.

Dunnottar by night is absolutely spectacular, especially when the Milky Way makes an appearance😍

It's been snowing! ❄️
Not quite deep enough for a snow angels but lovely day for a crisp walk and to curl up by a fire.

Good time to show you a sneak peak of the hideaways. They will feature a log burner so you can enjoy a cosy stay all year round. 🔥
