The view from the window was great this evening. This is the local sailing club out for the regular Tuesday night practice.

Beautiful Browndown! It’s opposite Solent View and is a military range packed full of nature and history, including D-Day constructions. When the red flag is down it’s a lovely place for a walk. Dogs are allowed off lead. It’s about a 25 minute walk through to Stokes Bay where you can relax with a meal or a drink at the Bayside Cabin (Ruby recommends the dog sausage) before your return.

The Submarine Museum is about a 10 minute drive from the house and has free parking. It’s always an interesting day out for all the family!

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉🎉🎉 We wish you all a great 2024! In Stokes Bay (the next beach down from us) they hold a New Year’s Day swim. I’ve done it before in fancy dress and, trust me, it’s freezing! However, it does raise money for our local lifeboat service who patrol our beaches. You might have seen them during your stay. If you’re feeling brave give it a go one year - as for me, I’ll hold your towel! 😀

I just did a craft workshop at Jen Creates. If anyone is wanting ideas of what to do when staying with us I can thoroughly recommend her. Look what I managed to make in a couple of hours! The view from her workshop is lovely and there’s a large free car park nearby.

Sounds like a great weekend coming up!

This weekend is Summer in Lee time, not only do we have an amazing location backdrop for the event, which provides us a great venue, but there’s also going to great music, great children’s entertainment, plus great food available as we see new food caterers with us who are now part of the Montserrat Events delivery.

For you, being freshly cooked in our Flower Building Food Quarter will be Steak, Burgers, Breakfast, Greek, Jacket Potatoes, Indian plant based Street Food; Vegetarian Curry, a Licensed Bar, Tea & Coffee, and Thai Noodles! For the sweet tooth ones there’s Donuts, Slush and Ice Cream 😊

So come and enjoy this amazing free event for all to enjoy.

Some say there’s Pirates coming, so an eye patch won’t go a missing! 🏴‍☠️ Don’t forget there’s Captain Greybeard’s treasure to be found where’s the £200 cash to be found with two lucky treasure hunters wining £100 on Saturday & Sunday🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️💶 Visit The Book Shop & Boutique By The Sea to get the clue sheets for the treasure hunt. 👍

Please remember the whole purpose of this event is to raise money for two worthy charities Children with Cancer UK & Autism Hampshire, so please do help us over the weekend raise as much money as possible with cash & cards being accepted! 👍😊

There’s a slightly different ship outside the window today. If you’ve sat on the balcony before you’re used to cruise liners, container boats and ferries - but unusually we’ve got an aircraft carrier! HMS Prince of Wales is anchored up after it’s problems. Believe it or not but this very large ship squeezes in and out of Portsmouth Harbour which is always worth watching if you’re around!

Just a ten minute drive from the house will take you to Portsmouth Harbour. You can catch the local ferry ⛴ from Gosport to Portsmouth, and from there it’s just a short walk to the Dockyard or Gunwharf - or both! See HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and go on a harbour tour. Alternatively head for Gunwharf for shopping, have a meal, go for a rib ride or go up the Spinnaker Tower!

It was all go outside the house on the Solent today! On the beach we have a UK National windsurfing event taking place over the weekend. On the opposite side the Round the Island race was running with 1100 boats taking part! ⛵️⛵️

It is all go in Lee-on-the-Solent this morning ahead of today’s Jubilee celebrations! The main road has been closed to allow for a massive street party, and this evening there is a light show, cannons and a beacon!!

Well, it was interesting weather this morning! The gusts of wind reached 122mph at The Needles and we certainly felt that gust come through. We must have seen winds over 100mph here. I’ve never seen so much spray before and the windows are now covered in sea salt! Hopefully it’s easing off now.

We hosted a lovely Sikh family last week who were down here for their sons wedding. It was very exciting to see him leave the house on a horse surrounded by a band, drummers and his family. We wish all the best to Gurpreet and his beautiful wife Simi! ❤️❤️❤️
