Proud of my 79 year old mum who I’ve just waved off at the train station as she heads to Manchester airport for a weeks holiday on her own in Goa. This is a destination we know well, but mum hasn’t visited for over 10 years and she’s never holidayed alone. Why didn’t I take her to the airport, you ask? She wanted to go on the train whilst she is still able. If you don’t use it you lose it.

The snow has been great this week in Val Thorens we even got to ski as it fell. Typically the day I didn’t pack my snood so turned my face into a cherry.

Snow touring today, utterly exhausting but brilliant. Great to try something new with a two hour hike uphill followed by fantastic powder skiing back down.

Best takeaway from a days research on the Maldives, Kuramathi Resort, when an infinity pool just melts into the lagoon. Plus the amazing Zero restaurant at Sun Island Resort set in the tree tops. Such an amazing destination for that once in a lifetime holiday.
