A lovely place to visit just a short 10min drive away

🦆check out local wildlife

🚣🏻try out a new water sport activity

🥾take to the trails for a ramble through woodland, along dam walls and through meadows, short and long trails available

☕️ call into the onsite cafe for fresh refreshments from, cakes and light bites to main meals and afternoon tea

🛝let the kids run wild in the play area featuring a sand pit, large and small apparatus and plenty of picnic spots!

Tittesworth Reservoir is overlooked by the Roaches and boasts marvellous views

‼️Say hello to Peak Wildlife Park newest arrivals! 🐻‍❄️ Hope and her two cubs, Nanook and Noori🤩

The trio are settling into their new, specially adapted, 5 acre home in the UK after arriving from Orsa Rovdjurspark in Sweden.

The park is a fantastic day out for all ages with lots of exciting animals to meet! Just a 15min drive from Swallows Rest!

The bears are set to be on view to the public from August so be sure to book your tickets in advance as these chilly guests are sure to heat up the visiting numbers during the school holidays! 🐻‍❄️

Lud’s Church 🥾A place full of history, myths and legends! What will this enchanting chasm have your mind wondering?

Close to the Roaches in Leek, a 10min drive from the cottage, following a woodland path hides an 18 metre deep chasm created in the Roaches’ gritstone, caused by a giant landslip, which over the ages has been covered from top to bottom in vibrant green moss.

In the Fifteenth Century it was used as a secret place for worship for people who would have otherwise been prosecuted. The people using this deep secret chasm as a church were the Lollards, followers of the early church reformer and so-called ‘heretic’, John Wycliffe.

Legend also says that Robin Hood and Friar Tuck are reputed to have stayed in the cleft whilst hiding from the authorities.💰

A beautifully restored, Grade II listed venue showing off the Victorian splendour of Buxton. Offering 23 acres of gardens to explore with a boating lake, miniature train, play areas, fountains and wildlife to see🦆🚂🛶

The main building offers a botanical garden with a fishpond, flower shop, retail area, art gallery, tea room, ice cream parlour and more!

A short stroll takes you into the main high street with plenty of shopping available, be sure to stop and take a drink from St Ann’s well, an ancient, natural warm spring!

What better way to celebrate Britains First National Park’s birthday than booking a trip to stay in one of its beautiful regions and visit some of the outstanding attractions, sample some of the incredible delights and stroll along many of the magical walking trails!

🥳 🎉 Happy Birthday to the Peak District National Park! It was designated Britain’s first National Park 72 years ago today.

The Roaches ⛰️ We decided to make the most of the sunshine and head out to this wonderful place! Just a short drive from Swallows Rest and a must see when in the area! 🤩 Parking in designated areas available along the roadside, then take a wander through the enchanted forest following the winding pathway up, up and up into the clouds, scrambling over the rocks to the most amazing view over the Staffordshire Moorlands! It truly is breathtaking! 🤩
