Well ok not maybe not He-man, more of a King Arthur moment happening here. But I got your attention?
Cams are revolutionary bit of kit. Back in the 70's 🕺 they completely change the game. However user beware they don't work the same as passive gear when loaded! If you didn't already know...
🧐 Cams work because of they follow the mathematical laws of logarithmic spiral's. Yer, I didn't pay that much attention back in school either, however one very important take away from this is cams exert BIG forces outwards through the lobes when loaded. This video here is an example of just how powerful these little gems can be.
Placing cams is the easy bit, however always ensure the rock you're placing them into is super solid is the real trick. If using for rigging why not give it the old 'King Arthur' test to ensure it safe? You may be surprised what moves!
