The famous East German car, the Trabant, used to have a place in the Cotton Mill in the shape of the rear badge. But sadly, no more, it's missing! If you've seen it let us know.

In the meantime I've found a cache of forgotten Trabant lapel pins which look so great I sent one to my uncle for his birthday.

If you want one a lapel pin too, just let me know and I'll send you one!

Good news if you want to make extra money for renting out a room! The Government raised the tax free allowance in its Rent a Room Scheme from £4,250 to £7,500 from 5 April 2016. https://www.gov.uk/rent-room-in-your-home/the-rent-a-room-scheme

The one key thing to do (which we learned the hard way, and which they don't tell you on spareroom.co.uk) that helps to makes sure you have happy lodger experience? Have a 3 month initial contract, to make sure everyone gets along. We had to say goodbye to our last lodger after 3 months, but its also saved us a lot of extra problems.

Leicester universities ride on football success - BBC News

What this BBC report on the benefit of Leicester City Football Club for the city's universities doesn't mention is the study of football by academics here in the city.

Nice message from returning guest Jayne we received this morning: "Hi and thank you the apartment is perfect".

Our top mini successes working to get the apartment ready on Sunday included (a) getting the bean bag full up! (b) re-setting the TV volume correctly.

The lovely historic Cotton Mill in Leicester

We've had our first Airbnb guests at the Cotton Mill this year, recently including a Yorkist supporter of Richard III who had a great time staying at the apartment!

We sometimes get asked by guests, why we have a Quintrix Panasonic TV at the Cotton Mill?

I confess there is a geeky reason, as well as the fact it still does the job nicely after many years service!

The previous apartment owner, Professor Martin Richardson. (Department of Imaging & Communication design, De Montfort University) worked with Panasonic - and we inherited the TV from him when we bought the apartment!

I've sent off an email to the mayor to see if we can get a parking space to allow for an all day permit for on-street parking outside the Cotton Mill, for those residents who don't have a car parking space within the apartment block who need an engineer or decorator to work throughout the day on site.
