It can be as basic of elaborate as you like, but you will be surprised at what you can achieve with just a few basic skills. I loved to cook from an early age, cooking with my Gran and my Mum and my Aunt was such fun. I remember going to the library each Saturday with my mum to choose a new book and I always chose a cookery book along with a reading book and couldn't wait to get it home and choose
which recipe to cook, and as children we always had our speciality, I seem to remember mine was Shortbread and my sisters was Rock cakes which always made for delicious teatimes. As I got older I was in awe of my Aunt who was the Cook at a prestigious Management training centre and I instantly knew that this was I wanted to do. I took Food and Nutrition at school and then went on to Cassio College in Watford to train to be a chef, I was in heaven, I loved every minute of it - I have my mum to thank for that as I wanted to do Day-release training and she insisted I went full time to college - good call Mum ;-) I was a star pupil (someone has to say it !!) and in fact was awarded the John Laing Trophy for Student of the Year and Qualified through City & Guilds. On leaving college I worked in a variety of catering establishments from Large industrial kitchens catering for a workforce of 500 daily to a small French classical restaurant, and I have also worked front of house, as a waitress and later as a Restaurant Manager. My cooking experience covers all aspects of food preparation from Starters through to dessert and everything in-between. I have been cooking for almost 30 years now most of that time in a proffessional capacity and the rest feeding family and friends - which I love to do. I can't wait to share my knowledge with others so that they can be as passionate about cooking as I am.
