How is your National Walking Month going? What walks have you achieved so far?

We have:

*Guided an amazing group through their Yorkshire 3 Peaks at the beginning of the month
*Route planned and pre-walked our City Walks for a Corporate company who has been hosting annual city walks for their employees for a few years now.
*Route planned and pre-walked a private Corporate event in Essex

There is still plenty of time to fit in some walks before the month is out!

Off the back of our wonderful The Waggon Wheel Walk last weekend, today marks the start of National Walking Month.

Whether you walk 1 mile or 26 miles, it all makes a difference! The physical and mental health benefits are amazing and if you find picturesque routes, that is definitely a bonus 💪😁.

Massive shout out to a big friend of Challenge Central for just completing the Everest Base Camp Challenge. Beautiful Tracy went on her own and endured phenomenal weather conditions, extreme altitude and experienced all round life living on a mountain range in the Himalayas. Sooo impressive. Great work mate. See you on the Waggon Wheel.

We are fast approaching our third Waggon Wheel Walk - Saturday 27th April.

No sooner are we back from our muddy Stevenage to Hertford Station Walk, we are gearing up for our next!

Cedric is ready for the 26km from Letworth GC to Welwyn GC on Saturday 6th April. He has cleaned his boots 😃 - let us hope for less mud next month!

What a courageous group of walkers we had today!

With so much rain this week our usual route had to be changed a few times over the past 5 days.

The beautiful scenery didn't disappoint even if it was through rain clouds and (very!) muddy puddles!

Everyone was one team and helped each other get through to the end.

A celebratory glass of fizz near the end and a pint or two at a local pub.

Our walkers (human and dogs) were amazing to deal with such wet conditions.

Well done everyone, you definitely did

What would be our Top 5 Cycling Tips for beginners or people returning to cycling after a long break?

1) It is never too late to start or return to cycling! Cycling can be for all ages and abilities.

2) Is your bike up to scratch? If it has not been used for a while or you have recently bought one second hand, we would recommend it having a bike service to ensure it is road-ready!

3) Have fun! Don't set yourself a marathon route to start with; ease yourself into cycling to build your confidence. Cycle paths and designated bike routes may be preference to begin with until you are happy to cycle on the road.

4) Ensure you have an appropriate level of safety/cycling gear! You do not need the state of the art brands and gadgets to get you started! We would always recommend a good, cycle helmet and also reflective/hi-vis clothing if you are cycling on roads.

5) Do you need some bike training? Take a look and see if there is anything local you can sign up to? Knowing the cycling etiquette is always useful.

We cannot believe our 2024 challenge season will soon be upon us!

Starting with our very own Station 2 Station Walk on 2nd March.

From Stevenage Train Station, we will walk 18km to Hertford North Station stopping off at checkpoints along the way to refuel. Our cross-country walks always have such a community / friendly feel to them as we walk through some picturesque areas of Hertfordshire.

And a medal at the end for your efforts 💪💪

This year, we proudly supported Mental Health UK in delivering their 3rd annual Glow Walk in London and Birmingham. The streets came alive with an incredible energy, filled with laugher and camaraderie as the walkers conquered the 20k challenge. 🚶‍♂️🌆

The annual Glow Walk isn’t just growing in numbers but in spirit too! Each year, we're greeted with new faces, heartwarming stories and shared laughter. The 2023 event was a phenomenal success, raising over £100,000 for Mental Health UK, showcasing the power of community and purpose. 🎉💪

We're honoured to have partnered with Sysmex, who conquered the exhilarating 3 Peaks Challenge earlier this year! Year after year, their team's commitment shines through, setting new benchmarks for determination and camaraderie.

🏔️ The 3 Peaks: Scaling Heights for Charity 🏔️

The 3 Peaks challenge, already a formidable test of spirit and strength, reached epic proportions this particular June weekend, ranking among the hottest of the year. It transformed the climb into an epic tale of endurance. Our hats off to the entire Sysmex team who, despite the brutal conditions, pushed through with relentless enthusiasm.

Their incredible efforts paid off in smiles, sweat, and success culminating in a celebration that was every bit deserved. Together, they've raised thousands for three deserving charities, making a lasting impact in the lives of many.

Join us in applauding their monumental achievement. Well done to all the climbers and a massive thank you to everyone who supported worthwhile causes. Your efforts are truly inspirational!

🚴‍♂️🎉 Thrilled to share our 3rd adventure this summer with the incredible team from Smith & Nephew! Each challenge surpasses the last and this time was no exception. Our diverse group of cyclists, embracing all skill levels, embarked on an exhilarating 3-day journey to Brussels via Eindhoven.

Their dedication and team spirit shone brightly as they peddled for a cause close to our hearts – raising over £10,000 for Motor Neurone Disease research. A heartfelt thank you to this amazing team for their relentless effort and inspiring commitment.

What an unbelievable experience this was.

Post brain tumour removal and whilst still on chemotherapy treatment, with a borrowed bike, we took Robbie 2 Paris!

We made it! With 48 hours notice, we took Robbie to Paris 🇫🇷 💥

Absolutely amazing achievement by Robbie who is not only recovering from brain cancer but also his longest previous ride was just 20 miles. This weekend he did over 200 in 3 days!

What a story this is!
�Just last night we agreed to take a solo cyclist, Robbie - https://www.facebook.com/robbie.seaward, from his home in Marlow all the way to Paris! And we leave tomorrow morning!

The brave man has been dealt a huge blow with the diagnosis of Brain Cancer. But his determination to show that despite chemotherapy, radiotherapy and everything that comes with this, LIFE GOES ON.

Robbie is determined to take on this challenge head on and plans to be in Paris for Saturday evening to watch his beloved South Africa in the Rugby World Cup final, whilst raising money the phenomenal charity – Brainstorm��So with just one day to prepare, the Challenge Central team are off first thing in the morning to take this incredible Husband and Father of 3 on a three-day cycle to the French capital.

🚴‍♂️ What an epic achievement! Our client, Peter Tenenbaum, just completed a jaw-dropping 1,200-mile cycling journey from London to Valencia! 🇬🇧 🇪🇸

Peter's pedal-powered adventure wasn't just about conquering miles, it was about conquering hearts. He raised over £50,000 for four incredible charities close to his heart: UCL, Our Brain Bank, Bone Cancer Research and BreathingMatters.

Even more amazing, a decade ago, Peter cycled to Barcelona for charity. This year, he decided to raise the stakes, cycling all the way to Valencia.

And of course, behind every epic journey, there's an epic team. Our Challenge Central heroes, Mike and Lorraine, were there every pedal of the way, guiding and supporting Peter through this 18-day adventure. They journeyed from our capital, through picturesque France, conquering the Pyrenees and enjoyed the beauty of the Spanish coast.

Challenge Central is immensely proud to be a part of Peter's journey and to support these wonderful charities.

Peter’s determination is an inspiration to us all, providing that age is just a number and that incredible feats are possible when you're fuelled by passion and purpose.

Another brilliant weekend this summer with Endomag as we conquered the National 3 Peaks – the tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, all in a single weekend. The Endomag team united to achieve this amazing challenge, followed by some well-deserved celebratory drinks. The enthusiasm and camaraderie were truly inspiring.
