If you turn left out of the cottage and keep walking, you will head towards a village called Preston-under-Scar. It's full of pretty cottages and you can carry on all the way to Leyburn along the supposed route of Mary Queen of Scots.

This is one of those walks where you need to keep stopping to admire the valley views and looking back you will see Castle Bolton village nestling in the shadow of the castle.

This is a particularly beautiful shot!

Each morning we open a window to the National Park and share some of the special qualities to inspire us all to spend time in nature to improve health and wellbeing. This is a great misty morning view across to Bolton Castle.

Some incredible and very sunny walks for us this week in Wensleydale and neighbouring Swaledale. Plus lots of eating al fresco at the wonderful pubs en route 👌☀️

We particularly enjoyed pizzas at The Three Horseshoes, Wensley and pies at The Farmers Arms Pub, Muker. Both with good outdoor seating and a dog friendly bar.

Bolton Castle re-opens tomorrow after a winter break. It's well worth a visit and just a stroll through the village 👍
