Steep Hill and Michaelgate in Lincoln over the years.

The area was first used by the residents of Lincoln when the city was called Lindum Colonia, and the Romans decided to expand the settlement down the hill. Excavations have shown that the hill used to be lined with steps during that time.

Today, the street is famous for its vintage boutiques and tea rooms. It was voted 'Britain's Great Street' in 2012 by the Academy of Urbanism.

The steep cobbled street has a 16.12º gradient, and is the fourth steepest street in England.

The perfect Twixmas stay! And another much appreciated five star review. ⭐️ x 5

"Just stayed over the Twixmas period. The house was very centrally located in the cathedral quarter, with quaint shops and pubs within a 1 minute walk. Even though very central the house was very quiet, so best of both worlds. The house had every amenity required for our stay, it is very tastefully decorated and the beds were super comfy. It was very easy to find the house and also easy to get inside. The parking permit was a great bonus and we found parking easy on the street approx 3 min walk away. Joy was easy to communicate with and responded very quickly. We would very much recommend this house. The perfect stay in Lincoln." Mark, Twixmas 2024

"This was our 3rd or 4th time staying at this lovely home in Lincoln. Joy made the house very welcoming for our Christmas stay, with decorations and treats left for us! The location is fantastic, I loved hearing the Cathedral bells chime. The house is beautifully presented and the kitchen is well stocked, with a large fridge which was very helpful when we cooked our lovely Christmas dinner. I look forward to staying again soon."
