On Tuesday I was hosted by Birmingham Airport at Silver Travel Advisors sales meeting.
I raised the issue of the long queues at security caused by the installation of the new luggage scanners.
Yes - during the peak times between 06.00 - 09.00 they can be long. However at other times of the day it can take as little as 10 minutes to get through security.
The main issue, due to social media scaremongering, is people turning up far too early to check in ( 6 hours before take off ) and with nowhere for them to go this is clogging up the departures area.
Birmingham Airport requested that you DO NOT turn up more than 3 hours before you fly. They will ensure that you don’t miss your flight.
They are working hard to resolve the issues with the scanners.
On the plus side you no longer have to remove your 100ml liquids or mobiles from your hand luggage !! 😊

‼️MANCHESTER AIRPORT UPDATE ‼️

National Highway has issued a warning to all customers flying from Manchester Airport throughout June, July & August, to leave extra time for travel after announcing that parts of the M56 between junctions 5 & 6 will be closed during specific dates for resurfacing slip roads as well as replacing road markings and bridge joints.

Please make sure to plan ahead for your flights departure time!

M56 J5 - 7 Resurfacing works
National Highways are carrying out essential overnight resurfacing works on both sides of the M56 between Junction 4 and Junction 7. Works are due to start on Monday 10th June 2024 and completed by August 2024. Closures will take place between 21:00 and 05:00, Monday to Friday, and extending to 07:00 on Saturdays. This will include a mix of full overnight closures and slip closures.

Signed diversion routes will be in place.

Delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journeys.

I was lucky to have been hosted by P&O Iona last Saturday and what a fabulous ship. Contemporary design with a feeling of space. So many fabulous bars and restaurants.
