What a beautiful ship Queen Mary is!
She was here in Liverpool to mark the 400th transatlantic crossing of this magnificent vessel!
It was great to see the crowds of people coming to the cruise liner terminal to see her.
I did take several groups of passengers on various tours around the city and its privilege!
Another very busy couple of weeks guiding here there everywhere!
Seems to be cruise ship in after cruise ship and then at the weekend a Peaky Blinders tour (weather was lovely!)
I will never get bored in my job!
Just finished a private Liverpool and Beatle highlights tour and now waiting to meet a coach (Gate 1 travel) in Penny Lane to do all things Beatles ending at the Cavern club!
Back at it tomorrow!

Sad news hearing about the passing of Sven Goran Eriksson, at least Sven got to fulfil one of his dreams by being boss at LFC for one match. RIP😔
Fab Beatles walk today with Sev and Pete from Melbourne who are on a European holiday and popped up to Liverpool just to do this walk!
So much going on in the city at the moment with Mathew st festival all over the bank holiday, cruise ships in LFC playing their first home game of the season, I mean could it get more exciting!!!

Absolutely fab tour with Nancy and her fellow golfers , then tours from cruise ship Jewel of the Seas and then several Globus evening tours (thanks to LTGA) , back at it tomorrow and loving it!

What a fab day!
So enjoyed taking the Dr Anthony Sweat LDS group up to Preston where the roots for LDS began in the UK, then off to Chorley to see the largest LDS temple in Europe finishing back in Liverpool where the statue called Emigrants/ Legacy Albert Dock paid for by LDS , my job really is fascinating! Always something different, thanks to LTGA for giving me the tour
So, even though I have been home from the last 10 day tour since 4th July, I haven’t had time to look up from the parapet to speak!
It’s been a great year guiding wise so far and long may it continue!
I thought I would show this pic of my little work space where I do all my research for tours etc, believe me I have so many folders of just about anything I may need when guiding or tour directing in the UK, but you never stop learning , every day is a school day (I love it!)
I looked up from my desk and looking at the thank you cards I have received, it really makes you feel that you have achieved something and given guests a great time, as I say, I LOVE my job! YMT Vacations

Wonderful tour in Oxford, then back to London Shepherd Bush and a scrumptious farewell dinner in Bills restaurant!

Fab tour in York, then down to Newstead Abbey which was fascinating!
Now in Birmingham to sleep, then up and out to Oxford tomorrow!
It was great to be in my home city Liverpool! A little breezy !
The group loved it, then whizzed through to Manchester for a panoramic and then settled into York ready for our walking tour tomorrow in York!
Full on day today! Blaenau Ffestiniog railway, then down to Conwy for sightseeing and of course the stunning Conwy Castle! Plus the rain stayed off too! My job rocks!
Lovely day today, again weather just right!
Travelled through the Cotswolds , stopped at Stow on the Wold, beautiful St Edwards church (grade 1) which has 2 yew trees growing either side of the door, it’s said JRTolkein visited and drew inspiration from this feature and when writing Lord of the Rings, the doors into Durin are described as such!
Afterwards we meandered through to Stratford upon Avon , my group loved Shakespeares birth place and we saw a demonstration from Events from History performed in the gardens!
So, quite a lot done yesterday and today
London Eye yesterday, then today off to Stonehenge, Bath and now in Bristol for the night.
Finally got into Bath Abbey which was beautiful, the picture is The Edgar window which is fairly modern (1949) showing the first English King to be crowned here in Bath in 973.

Weather was fab and it was a great day! #

Beautiful afternoon on last afternoon of my Scottish tour!
After our morning tour with Scottish Blue Badge Guide Valerie Stewart (pictured) , Valerie then showed me just a little bit of her city that I wouldn’t have known about. The large Georgian house is Po***ck house dating from 1752 built for wealthy merchants the Stirling-Maxwells who owned the estate for 700 years and is now owned by Scottish National Trust housing a wonderful Spanish art collection amongst others. The send building is a house designed by Glaswegian designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife Margaret in 1901 but not built until 1989-1996

Having a mad couple of days here in Manchester with a group from Singapore, Ordsall Hall (gorgeous stately home in the middle of a council estate! We have been John Rylands library, Museum of Science and Industry where we saw a demonstration of cotton being spun, we have been to Imperial War Museum, the Lowry Galleries and now in National Football museum, phew!!!
