Effective maintenance and brake testing is the bedrock of any professional transport operation. As part of that process, our vehicles are regularly tested on a calibrated “rolling road”. Here, X1 BUS is seen having the rear axle service brakes and handbrake checked.

Here’s something to consider at the start of this new week 🤔

The people who died yesterday had plans for today, they had goals, dreams and tasks that will never happen.

They believed they had more time, just like you do right now. We often live as if tomorrow is guaranteed. We postpone joy, delay important conversations and push aside what matters, assuming there will always be another chance or another day, but tomorrow isn’t promised.

Each breath could be your last, every heartbeat is borrowed and could stop at any moment.

Think about this……..how many moments have you missed by planning for a future that might never arrive? How many sunsets have you ignored whilst staring at your phone? How many conversations have you barely noticed, while distracted by thoughts about tomorrow?

Laughter, sunlight, the voice of someone you love……these simple moments are life’s true treasures, yet we rush past them, always reaching for something else or something later.

DON’T trade today’s certainty for tomorrow’s uncertainty. Don’t sacrifice the joy you feel now for plans that may never happen.

All you really have is this one moment in time. DON’T waste it.

Happy Friday everyone ☀️ what do you have planned for the weekend?

We’ll leave you this week with the hum of a 6HLXB on tickover. We’ve given JIL a little engine/gearbox steam clean (and that’s water you can see, not Diesel !) The gearbox still has its original Leyland identity plate attached too 😊

Do you remember our Metroliner post last year about Mrs Miggins taking forever to find a seat with her shopping trolley? Well it looks like Health Secretary Wes Streeting also knows her 🤣🤣

For this weeks , we’re heading back to 2012. From our inception in June 2001, our livery had been allover blue, with a thick pink band around the base and narrower bands higher up. In late 2011, it was decided that we needed to refresh our image, whilst maintaining our heritage and the colours that people knew us for. The first bus to wear the “trial” livery was Dennis Dart MPD W869 YNB.

After positive feedback, this livery was adopted as standard and the first double decker painted was Dennis Trident/ALX 400 N400 BUS (LV52 HHC).

The revised livery was superseded in early 2024 with the adoption of the current two tone green and yellow livery.

Given the change in weather this week☀️, a start has finally been made on getting our Gardner powered Leyland National 2, JIL 8216 (A301 JFA) mechanically fit before work starts on the exterior later in the year. A new set of batteries have been fitted today and the alternator was removed as it’s seized. That’s away for overhaul tomorrow. A quick inspection of the underside has shown it’s still solid, after many years of laying idle.

The Trident and it’s amazing technicolor paintwork!

Dennis Trident V10 BUS (LV52 HHZ/L90 BUS) was purchased as part of a batch of six way back in 2010 to replace step entrance Volvo B10M’s. Originally operated in dual door configuration, it later received a single door conversion, a retrim, the fitting of lap belts, an E-fan and a Euro 5 upgrade.

Here’s a selection of liveries it has worn over the years 🎨
