Steve Rotheram today launched a new initiative giving care leavers free access to public transport across the Liverpool City Region.
The Care Leavers MetroCard is available to around 1,500 care leavers aged between 18 and 21 years old from across the city region’s five boroughs and city and is designed to ensure that people leaving the care system have access to opportunities and are not left behind.
“We already have the most generous concessionary scheme in the country, and the Care Leavers MetroCard is a vital part of our commitment to ensuring that young people who have left the care system are not left behind.

It's Commonwealth Day today so we're flying this special flag on our ferry, Royal Iris of the Mersey, to celebrate.
Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by millions across the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
This year’s theme, ‘Together We Thrive’, celebrates the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family – 56 independent member countries united by shared values enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter.
Rooted in the principles of family, unity and peace, the theme highlights the importance of fostering strong and connected communities that support and empower their members, enabling meaningful progress.
Today is Commonwealth Day. It's a day to recognise the nations of the Commonwealth who work together on shared goals, including development, democracy and peace. We'll be flying the flag all day today - come see 🏳️
Stop by and enjoy the sunshine at Pier Head or Seacombe 😁🛥️
