This summer, Liverpool will once again honor Slavery Remembrance Day on 23 August 2024, marking 25 years since the city first coordinated official events. Join us as we remember the millions of lives impacted by the transatlantic slave trade and reflect on its lasting legacies.

This special anniversary year offers a rich programme of free events that invites everyone to participate:

🔸 Walk of Remembrance: 23 August, 12 PM – 2:30 PM. This extended walk includes key landmarks like Williamson Square and with live performances and reflections, culminating in a libation ceremony near the Canning Quayside and Dry Docks.

🔸 Dorothy Kuya Slavery Remembrance Memorial Lecture: 22 August, 5:30 PM. Join us at town hall for a keynote by historian and artist Fiona Compton, exploring identity, heritage, and social justice.

🔸 Curatorial Workshop: 20 August, 2 PM at maritime museum. Delve into the history of medicine and transatlantic slavery, and help shape future displays at the slavery museum
