Merseytravel is the Executive body that provides professional, strategic and operational transport advice to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Merseytravel delivers transport projects that support the economic growth of the Liverpool City Region. The focus is on improving connectivity within the region and beyond, improving the customer experience from ticket buying to journey planning

and maintaining the integrated transport network, including the Mersey Ferries and Mersey Tunnels, to ensure it is fit for the future, accessible and safe. Merseytravel works in partnership with central, regional and local government, the Local Enterprise Partnership, public transport operators, other Passenger Transport Executives, the business community, community groups and members of the public.

To celebrate Liverpool Pride this weekend, we asked Joan Burnett aboard the Mersey Ferries to raise the Progress Pride Flag.

Originally from New Brighton, Joan was part of the incredible group of people who bought Pride back to Liverpool in 2010. In that first year, 21,000 visitors came along to show their support. Tomorrow, we are estimated to see more than 50,000 supporters, allies and members of the community heading down to Pier Head.

Thank you for all of the work you've done to support the community, Joan. And thank you for showing your Pride while raising the flag.

Whether marching in the protest, or taking part as a supporter, please take care and plan your journey to avoid avoid crowds.

Essential work has started to upgrade and renew Liverpool One Bus Station’s road surfaces. The Combined Authority is investing £500,000 from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement fund (CRSTS) to improve the roads and construct new bays.

Phase one, which involves the closure of one side of the station is due to be completed by 11 August. Phase two is due to begin on 12 August and end on 20 September.

Our Travel Centre is open as normal during the work.

Opened in 1934, this year the Queensway Tunnel celebrates its 90th anniversary. That’s nearly a century of connecting both sides of the water and being a core part of the City Region’s transport network.

We’ll be sharing memories of the impressive build and creation and we’d love to hear some of yours too. Comment below to share your memories of travelling in the tunnels through the years.
