When we first bought Bwlchnewydd, it was in a very tired & unloved state. We worked very hard over a number of years to restore our beautiful 1850s cottage using traditional local materials & local craftsmen 🛠️

🌿 Ideal for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike, this scenic 2 mile walk offers lots of opportunities to enjoy the views and spot bird such as Pied Flycatchers, Wood Warblers, Tree Pipits, Redstarts, Red Kites & more in the summer.

🪶 Discover the legendary Twm Sion Cati’s cave, hidden in these remote hills. Legend has it that Twm Sion Cati, known as the Welsh Robin Hood, used these hills to evade authorities for years. A steep path leads off the main route to this historical hideout.

A brilliant pub we'd recommend to our guests is Towy Bridge Inn 🍻 This beautiful spot is only a 15-minute walk from the cottage and is lively with tourists heading to or from Llyn Brianne. Enjoy delicious meals, a welcoming atmosphere, and stunning views here! 🌳✨

Mown grass paths at Bwlch Newydd. The Blackbirds and Song Thrushes love the short grass, the beetles and lizards and all sorts of other creatures like the cover of the long grass. Knapweed and Devil’s Bit Scabious will be in flower soon 🪲🦋🐛🕷️🐌🐞🐜🦗🌼🪻🌸🌱☘️🌿🦔
