Dŵr Cymru / Welsh Water burst water main at Bryn Cowlyd

ACTION REQUIRED: CLOSURE OF PREMISES IF WATER SUPPLY IS INTERRUPTED

The Dŵr Cymru / Welsh Water incident is affecting many areas of the County. If a workplace’s water supply is interrupted, businesses must take immediate steps to close the premises, until the issue is resolved. Without water, employers and business operators cannot provide adequate toilet and hand washing facilities, or drinking water, as required by law.

Failing to meet these legal standards puts employees and members of the public at significant risk, particularly in environments requiring stringent hygiene standards, such as food businesses, beauty, skin piercing or healthcare settings.

Conwy County Borough Council
Budget 2025-2026 consultation
Councils across the UK are facing increasing costs and demand for services, driven by the cost of living crisis, fuel and energy prices, interest rate rises and the lasting impact of the pandemic.

Conwy County Borough Council estimates that delivering day-to-day services from April 2025 to March 2026, including leisure centres, tourism services, business support and many others, will cost an extra £31million.

As with all Councils, Conwy must identify every opportunity to use its money more effectively to drive down costs and, unfortunately, this can result in a reduction in the level of services being delivered.

As a result, the Budget consultation was launched recently, which seeks resident and visitor views on which services are important to them. It also provides residents and visitors with some useful context and explanation on the Council’s financial position.
