Dogs have been part of our respective families since before we were born - I joke that I was raised by a Dalmatian called Susie! We can’t imagine life without hair, mud, walks in torrential rain, lightning-fast reactions to certain sounds.... wet kisses, furry snuggles and total faith that you are The Best (now... where have I put the treats....). So it follows that our holiday cottage would be totally dog-friendly and fully-equipped for dog owners!
We welcome dogs free (no breed or number restrictions) and donate at least £10 per booking to Helping Yorkshire Poundies, the dog rescue who matched us with Rosie in 2015 - you can read about Rosie’s story on our website. rehobothterrace.wixsite.com/dogfriendlyholidays
Our house is an end-terrace with four bedrooms and two reception rooms in the tiny village of Llanfaelog, on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey - in North Wales if you weren’t sure!
Situated just outside the popular beach resort of Rhosneigr, it offers the best of both worlds - close to Rhosneigr's three beaches (dog-friendly all year round), cafés, pubs and convenience stores, but far enough away to retain space, privacy and tranquility.
We have a fully enclosed garden, looking out over rolling fields, and are very popular with the local birds! There’s always something to watch, and the views from the house and garden are hard to tear yourself away from!
Sleeps 7 (+2); low-occupancy discount available
We can sleep 7 humans in beds (2 kings, 1 single, and one either twin or superking) and we also have 2 fold-out single mattresses.
Although spacious, we stay affordable for couples and have a low occupancy discount for those who only need 1 bedroom (outside summer school holidays).
We have a fully equipped kitchen, complete with breakfast bar and sink with stunning views (you might not want to use the dishwasher!). The sitting/dining room boasts the same spectacular views and has a large 8-seater dining table.
With an open fire for cosy winter evenings, and lots of garden furniture for lazy summer days, it doesn’t really matter what time of year you choose to visit!
Family-friendly
Perfect for sharing families, there’s room for everyone to do their thing, and with TVs in every bedroom, and the lounge (some smart), DVD players, wifi (fibre), an X Box, books, DVDs, puzzles, games, toys - there’s plenty to do for all ages if you get a rainy day.
We also have some lovely kids duvet covers which you can choose when you book to make their holiday that bit more special.
Something for everyone
Anglesey really does have something for everyone. If you just want to relax and “be”, it’s perfect. There are beaches and coves of every description, and there’s always a quiet spot to be found, even in August. If you look under the Area tab on our website, there are lots of links to give you ideas before you come, and we are well stocked in the house with guide books, walk books and maps to help you plan your days once you’ve arrived.
If walking is your thing, you’ll be pleased to learn there is a coastal path that runs right round the island, offering routes of varying difficulty and stunning views. Anglesey is also very dog-friendly - in 125 miles of coast, only 7 of its beaches have no-go areas for dogs in summer, and our local ones stay dog-friendly all year round.
There are many historical places to visit, such as Beaumaris Castle and burial mounds, and the geology of the island ensures interesting rocks on all sides of the island, including the amazing Parys Mountain copper mine.
Being close to RAF Valley adds another dimension to your holiday - you can get surprisingly close to the runway down in Rhosneigr, and the jets frequently come in to land to the Rhosneigr end of the runway, flying low over our garden!
Then there’s boat trips, bird watching (including the RSPB centre on South Stack), seals, dolphins, red squirrels, horse riding, kayaking, surfing, golfing, climbing, cycling - a week really won’t be enough!
If you fancy a change, Snowdonia is also just a short drive back over the bridges.
Not just a business :-)
We love Anglesey and feel very lucky to own our little piece of island paradise, which we discovered just by chance (fate?) on our honeymoon in June 2013.
It seems a recurring theme in our reviews, no matter the size and make-up of the party, that we are the most well-equipped cottage people have stayed in! This is probably due to the fact that we visit so frequently ourselves, and have tried to make it a home-from-home :-)
We’re proud that in our first year of renting properly to the wider public, such a large proportion of guests have re-booked - some several times! And we love reading about where they’ve visited, what they’ve done, and seeing their doggie holiday snaps. It’s good to know that when we can’t be there, other people can go and fall in love with the same things that we have!
We’re closing for January for an exciting refurbishment, but are taking bookings from February. Our website has loads of info on our house and area, and also a 12 month price and availability calendar - have a look and see if Anglesey could be your next holiday destination!
