Thanks to Matt for telling us about the meteor shower in August-thePerseids. I took my sun-lounger out to view the sky about midnight! Saw some beautiful "shooting stars" , the Milky Way and some constellations. Some of our guests saw them too and were thrilled as coming from London and Manchester, they don't get to often see the stars!

More warm days lately so am carrying on with the garden. Make hay while the sun shines or get weeding before the veg patch turns into a jungle! One bonus is the wild raspberries and blackberries are fruiting now. The apples are slowly maturing with a few pears, but there is an odd thing happening recently--some trees are having rust coloured branches, just an odd branch. Some locals think it was lightening damage, others suggest squirrels are to blame? Any ideas or is it happening further afield?

Last Saturday we had a gardening day, so I would like to thank very much Katie, David and his Canadian friend for all their help on a warm day, tidying part of the garden. This sort of help is invaluable to us. Anyone wishing to come and tidy a bit can call us here at Tan Y Garth Hall. Volunteers always receive lunch and drinks, if not cake as well!
