First generation family run farm in Ceredigion, West Wales Here in the county of Ceridigion, Dolwen has two holiday cottages. A 1 bed and a 2 bed.

It also has it's very own campsite. As the page name suggests this also includes our animals, most of which are really friendly and love a fuss! Both holiday cottages have their own parking and private gardens and are well equipped with the essentials. Both cottages also have their own private hot tub. A perfect way to unwind after a busy day exploring the area. The campsite is registered with The

Camping and Caravanning Club and is a Certificated Site (CS). Our campsite occupies a tranquil spot at the side of our smallholding overlooking fields and hills. It is located in a very private position with it's own entrance. The camp area is on grass, where we have 5 large mowed pitches amongst wildflower areas to make each one that bit more private. There are no electric hook ups available and is for tents and caravans. There is however, battery charging facilities available on request depending on availability. The site is fully equipped with drinking water and a sink with washing facilities. There is a flushing toilet, hot water shower and a chemical toilet disposal point. Pets are welcome on this site free of charge, complete with dog walking route.

Lula has had to have another sick day today due to a nasty chest infection so I have been home with her whilst Joel has been let out alone 😱🫣
Yep you guessed it, we have new arrivals 🐮
These guys certainly cheered a poorly Lula up 😍🥰

A little bit later with my update than planned but it's been one of those weeks 🤦‍♀️
The injured duck and two chickens are fully recovered and out of ICU 🙌
Squash is less than amused that one of the other chickens have decided the hay stack is it's new home and he now has to share his bed 🤣

Well it's just a tad windy out there today 😳🌬
Joel ventured out alone first thing to check everyone was OK incase things got worse here only to get hit on the head by a falling branch 🤦‍♀️ Don't worry though all the animals are fine 😁🤣 We are now going to hide out infront of the log burner until evening rounds later. Now is it better for me to head out as Joel is injured or do I just let him double down and hope he returns 🤔 Seriously though stay safe out there guys!!

So here we have our version of A and E set up 🤣 there was very little wait time, they got transport included and Quacky even gets her own room (mainly because once she starts throwing water everywhere she will create a right mess) 🤦‍♀️ They have settled down nicely in their luxury accommodation and having had a good look over them there only appears to be a few minors injuries (including peckys eye 😪) on all 3 of them, they were very lucky ☘️
They have had some pain relief so hopefully with lots of rest and tlc all 3 will make a full recovery 🤞 Doris our other duck felt left out of the A and E so has gone to bed in the stable block with her friend with her own special bed made up next to her 🤣 Honestly we are too soft 🤦‍♀️ I will keep you all updated on their progress and hopefully it wont be long before they are back free ranging!

The snow hit here at the perfect time yesterday (not) as Lula had been up all night not very well so was having a sick day at home and obviously our work load increases in extreme weather conditions 🤦‍♀️ Luckily for us our neighbours is like a home from home for Lula so off she went down there whilst we went on our rounds. Of course she was watching tv with both the dogs cuddled up with her 🤣❤️ If there was such a thing as a dog school we wouldn't have been able to keep her away 🤣
We also had a fox attack, guessing the snow coverage was causing a food shortage for him as well as everyone else so he got brave 🙄 Luckily all chickens and ducks are here and alive but 3 are injured 😪
Today Lula felt much better so went off to school and we set off on morning rounds only to find a ewe quite cold and a little under weight so she got the vip trip home and is now snuggled up in the stable with lots of food to warm up 🥰
The two chickens and 1 duck that got hurt yesterday have survived the night and the shock but are in need of tlc so we will be building them an intensive care unit this morning 🤞
The cows food went out at the bottom of the field as always but today they decided what we had left in the truck was far better than what was already out for them so kept blocking us in our tracks 🤣
Quick trip to the bakery for our pork roll to warm us up with a brew before heading back out to re do the rounds before picking Lula up from school 🥰
No snow days for farmers ❄️

An early start here today with Joel leaving at half 4 to make his way to London! As much as we would all liked to have gone to stand amongst the masses it just isn't possible with all the livestock, so Lula and I will be rocking our wellies all day to show our support from home and school ❤️

It's been a very different kind of week for us this week 😱 Lula told us last week that she wanted to start school 😳
This is something she has always had the option of and has always known its her choice to be homeschooled but to say it came out of the blue is an understatement!
We went for a look around her school of choice on Friday and by Tuesday she was starting 😬 She has had the best week and has already done her homework 🤣❤️
It is so quiet around the farm though and Krumble definetly misses her hide and seek partner 🤣🤣

This is a long post, some may agree and others disagree but please read till the end 🙏

Many people will believe all this is over farmers having to pay inheritance tax, but the reality is, that was just the final nail in the coffin for farmers. Farmers were already protesting for your food security and for fair prices for all! Please support us to support you and your families, they want a divide, don't let it happen 🙏

"British farmers have simply had enough and for those who are able will be going on strike for the first time in history on Sunday the 17th of November for one week.
We are being suffocated by a government that seems determined to destroy our livelihoods,our future and our ability to feed the nation.
This country wilĺ be facing massive food shortages with potential significant price increases and the demise of the rural economy along with a serious implications of food security.
We simply cannot allow the destruction of our industry to continue and our responsibility to feed our nation be taken away.
This is a last resort but we as farmers are in despair as we simply cannot afford to provide food to the public.
We ask this govt to talk to us,to listen to us,and allow us the freedom and flexibility to feed our nation.
Enough is Enough"

Today has been a super successful day.....NOT 🤦‍♀️
So our day started at 2am when we could hear one of our ewe lambs that had been isolated creating, so off we go out into the darkness to get her out the field and into the stables so I can't hear her 🤣
Then we went to move some sheep and one of the ponies onto fresh grass.....the ewe lambs moved easily and the pony moved like a saint but the ewes and tup were having none of it and ended up jumping the fence into the ewe lamb field (not ideal) so we had to get the tup out before he started getting frisky with the lambs, this went nice and easily to separate him off but once on his own he turned into the devil, cue a lengthy battle between sheep and man that ended with all of us in the stream upto our knees 🤦‍♀️
Then we went to the remembrance service which started at 1.30 or so we thought....turns out we arrived halfway through the service 🙄
Once home we needed to separate the pigs, que another battle which ended up with me flat on my ass in thick gloopy mud 😝🤣
I think a gin is in order tonight 🍸😴

We have been busy this week trying to make the most of the dry weather because let's face it once the rain comes it's not going to stop 🌨☔️
So we have been moving sheep, putting up gutters around the yard and collecting logs out the fields whilst the ground can hold up to the machines 🪵

Wow!!! What a day that's been 🤪
So yesterday afternoon we got a call to say our farm was being inspected and it was happening today at 10am 😳🫣 We have never had an inspection before so had little idea what to expect other than they are looking for everything to be done correctly! Instantly our minds start thinking the worst, how the hell are we (king and queen of winging it) going to pass an inspection.
In amongst this happening we had an artic lorry of straw being delivered this morning to unload and some very helpful ewe lambs that had managed to find their way into a neighbours field and all of this needed squeezing in before 5.30 as Lula had a Halloween party to get to!
But guess what.....we did it....we passed the inspection, 400 bales of straw have been unloaded and stacked in the barn, the lambs have been returned to the correct field and some electric fence erected and Lula made it to her party on time 🍾🥳 Tonight we celebrate...who am I kidding, we are off to bed as we are officially done in 😴😴

As you all know Lula is a huge part of our life here on the farm and given that she's homeschooled she is around for all aspects of our life.
With this being said we are always looking for new ways to push her out of her comfort zone, last week she went into the ring at the mart to sell her lambs and today she was in charge of bidding on the sheep she wanted to buy at today's sale 🥰 She was so nervous but she did so well and is already looking forward to the next one 😀 I am now questioning why i thought this was a good idea as i now have 2 happy bidders to keep an eye on 🤦‍♀️🫣

Today's adventures included a doggy rescue....never a dull moment 🤣 We only went to collect our milk and this beauty had escaped and needed reuniting with his owners ❤️ Joel and Lula definitely wanted to keep him 🤦‍♀️
P.s I don't usually ride round in the back seat but it seemed safer me being in the back with an unknown dog than Lula, even if she does believe she can win all animals over 🙄🤦‍♀️

Yesterday was a busy sheep day 😴
We started by rounding up some of the ewe lambs that are in isolation as we wanted a closer look at a couple of limpy ones to check it was nothing too serious. Then went off collecting all the ewes up, giving them a health check and splitting them up into different flocks ready to go with their tups for lambing 🐑 We brought one home for some tlc and the rest are split into 3 groups and in their own fields. Our Jacob tup was already there so he has gone straight in and we just need to take the other two over today to go in with their ladies 😍 We managed to go all day without one cross word between us then in the last 5 minutes we were both set for divorce 🤣 All it takes is one stupid sheep 🐑 As always Lula was there to save the day and came up with the perfect solution to get the job done ❤️ So glad we got it done yesterday given the appalling weather today, stay safe everyone and if you want my advice find a log burner and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and hide out the way till it passes 🤣 What do you do on a wet and windy day?

We always do worm egg counts on our horses instead of just worming to limit resistance built up over time. This isn't an issue when they are all stabled over winter as we can just pop in a stable and grab a sample to send off for analysis. The difficulties arise when they are out in a group in the field and you need a fresh sample from one horse. I needed to get one done for Jonny as it has been sat on the stairs at home for over a week 🙄 So when I went over to check them this morning and caught him mid deposit I knew I had to get it even though I hadn't got the pot or gloves 🙈
The colder weather is great as it means we are out in our coats more that always have pockets full of stuff!! Having dogs is also great I thought, you always have bags in your pocket to clean up after them, use one of them take it home swap it to the pot, job done, then it dawned on me I handed Joel all the bags in my pocket whilst out walking last night 🙄 So I start emptying my pockets, syringe, baler twine, knife, treats, cough sweets, money, and so much more but nothing I can see that will help in this situation, that is till I decide to have a cough sweet before putting them back in my pocket and realise the wrapper may just be sufficient 🤦‍♀️🤣 Sample successfully collected under the close supervision of Mojo ❤️ Where there's a will there's a way even if it's not that glamorous 🤣🤣

Not sure Dora gets the idea of swingball 🤣🤣

You know that feeling you get when you get in bed and you have fresh bedding 🛌❤️ Well the piglets get that exact same feeling, they were super excited to have a nice fresh bed of straw 🤪😍

Another late night for us here but this time for fun 😁 We headed to the local village sports day where we all took part in running races, egg and spoon races and sack races, Joel refused to do the three legged race with me at this one though 🤣 He then got roped into one of the rounders teams this evening and they only went and got 1st 👏 Joel also gained his 2nd black eye of the week after a spectacular dive for the ball 🤣 That wasn't the only time he hit the deck today, here's his sack race 🤣

You'll never guess what guys......we have actually been on holiday 😳 For the first time since moving to Wales we managed to leave the farm for a whole week, i know a week!!! With help from some good friends who moved into the farm to look after everyone for us we headed to Dartmouth for our honeymoon 🥰 We had a lovely time away but we're so ready to get home and meet this little beauty who arrived whilst we were away 🙄 Let us introduce you to Rosie 🥰 Lottie foaled overnight with no one around and had everything under control when our friends went out one morning. She was then brought into the stable to make it easier to keep an eye on her. Now we are back home she has been given freedom and is back out in the field burning off all that energy so mum can get a break 🤣 for anyone who likes a Lula tale make sure you put the sound on 🤣🤣

When it's too wet everywhere to use machines and you have to use man power and team work to get the job done 💪 Mission tidy the farm for our wedding is underway 🫣

Just found this on my phone....someone's going to be in trouble in the morning 🤣🙊

It's suddenly got wild here in the last few hours, really picked up 💨 Everyone we can possibly get in is in, sheep all checked on and they've hunkered themselves down. All the kit is away and just hope it passes without incident now🫣
