🌠INTERNATIONAL DARK SKIES WEEK🌠

This week we are celebrating our Dark Skies!

The natural night is filled with wonder and awe, and is critical to the health and wellbeing of our planet, our wildlife and ourselves.

We are fortunate to have some of the darkest skies in the world, with much of the Outer Hebrides classed as Bortle 1 on the Bortle scale (1 - excellent dark skies and 9 - bright being inner cities).

Our pristine dark skies are perfect to observe distant galaxies, the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.

Situated at the entrance to our home stands this stone with a plaque reading Tilleadh Dhachaidh translated into English means ‘Returning home’. As this is Mays first language and where she grew up, we felt that this plaque says it all as this is how we feel every time we come home 🤩
