In 1975 Houston’s Mini Coaches started of as a small family run business with only a few buses available for private hire and a handful of school contracts and local council contracts. Now Houston’s Mini Coaches have expanded with depots in Lockerbie and Dumfries and are now a second generation family run business. We have over 40 employees and a strong fleet of around 40 vehicles, which supply th

e local area with a first class service. We have 16, 19, 33, 49, 51 and 57 seater coaches available to hire for Weddings, Airport Transfers, School Hires, Day Tours etc. We also have service buses that are used on our council routes around Dumfries and Galloway. Our local council contracts cover a 50 mile radius from Carlisle to Samye Ling, Dalbeattie and Lockerbie and since 2012 we have the Solway Coast service. We offer reasonable, affordable day and weekly tickets and a special return ticket on selected services. In 2008 we expanded our services for day trips around the UK, with a variety of locations as far afield as Chester, in the south of England and Loch Lomond, in the north of Scotland. Every year we try our best to offer customers a varied selection of Day Trips to cover all ages and interest, to give our customers the opportunity to discover the UK in a trouble free and relaxed environment. All our coaches and buses are maintained at our depot by our well experienced mechanic’s and cleaned inside and out on a daily basis by our team of domestic staff. We pride ourselves for having well mannered, reliable and well dressed staff who are happy to go that extra mile to provide a professional service. We offer a variety of buses at very affordable rates with an array of capacities, accessibility and much more. Our 16 seater mini coaches are comfortable, stylish and ideal for small excursions. Our 33 seater coaches perfect for School Trips, Weddings and Day Trips. Our 49 and 51 seater coaches are equipped with toilets and comfortable seats allowing large parties to travel to their location in style and comfort, they are ideal for bigger groups, weddings and are used on our own day excursions. Our main goal is to ensure all who travel with us have a safe and enjoyable Journey, from the first call for quotation through to the final stop on the return journey.

Bus Services - Moffat Gala

Saturday 13.07.2024:
Our buses will not be able to access the bus stances on Moffat High Street due to local events. Our drivers will use the Esso garage as the main bus stop.
Affects the 380, 380 town service and 101a services.
The 13.40 local town service will not operate on Saturday.

Sunday 14.07.2024:
Due to a temporary road closure for the church parade, our buses may not be able to access the high street between 10:45 and 11.00, then 12.00 to 12.15. Again the bus will service the Esso garage as the main bus stop.

💥 Blackpool & the Airshow - Sunday 11 August 💥

We still have seats left to visit Blackpool on Sunday 11 August. The Airshow will also be taking place with the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight confirmed to be appearing along with the Red Arrows.

Yesterday our driver Keith took a school group up to Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre, Eaglesham, Glasgow.

Keith experienced all weathers, wind, rain, sleet and then the sun came out 🌞. He managed to get a lovely photo 📸.

On the 22nd of August, Ryan Armstrong, Sean Houston and friends will be climbing Ben Nevis while raising money for Maggie's Cancer Care. They will be continuing the fundraising started by Ryan's mum (Jackie Armstrong).
Ryan's mum was diagnosed with cancer in April 2010 and spent the next 10 years battling it, managing to beat it twice before it unfortunately returned for a third time. During this time she received care at the Maggie's Centres in Edinburgh, after returning home this is when she decided to start fundraising with a goal of £5000. She quickly achieved this goal and decided that she would now like to raise £100,000 for charity. She organised lots of various charity events such as zip wires across the river Nith, a sky dive, various themed charity nights, bag packs at local supermarkets and sponsored walks. She was so determined to raise money for charity that she even organised events from her hospital bed! She manage to raise a huge £85,500 for charity before unfortunately passing away in February 2020. Our goal is to continue her charity work to help raise the remaining money in her memory to reach her £100,000 goal.

Lockerbie Gala Day Service Bus Announcement
For Saturday 8th June 2024 only.

Between 10.00-14.30 & 17.30-19.00, we will not operate any service via Bridge Street or Sydney Place. During these times our buses will pick up from and drop off at Broomhouses Industrial Estate, Dryfe Road & Glasgow Road.

The 104 services will run only from 08:45 to 10:33 due to road closures. There will be no 104 service from 10:53 through to 14:05. The 104 will resume normal service from 14:40.

The 381 services from Dumfries will drop off at Dumfries Road, then turn onto the APR Road for any services before 7pm. Normal service will resume after 19:00.
(Affects 16:50 and 18:35 leaving Dumfries)

The 382, 13:00 from Lockerbie will service Broomhouses Industrial Estate, Dryfe Road and Glasgow Road.
The 382, 14:20 from Lockerbie will service Broomhouses Industrial Estate, Dryfe Road and Glasgow Road if the street is still not accessible.

Sizergh is a beautiful medieval house set in rich gardens and has something for everyone. This includes items collected by the Strickland Family over 26 generations alongside a range of gardens including a mirror lake and a working kitchen garden.
