👀💥IMPORTANT TRAVEL NEWS 📰

EU officials have confirmed that Britons travelling to Europe next summer will need to apply for a visa waiver.

The visa waiver will cost €7 for people aged 18-70. There will be no charge for children and those over 70.

It will last for three years, or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first.

Most applications will be approved within minutes, although officials have warned it might take up to 72 hours or even up to a month for more complex cases.

As part of the application process, ‘full disclosure’ is required regarding an applicant’s background, including travel history and any criminal record.

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will follow the implementation of the automated EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which will launch on 10 November 2024 following years of delays.

Introduction of the ETIAS will follow six months later, meaning it should be in place by mid-May 2025.

When the EES comes into force in the autumn, travellers with non-EU passports, including those travelling on British passports, will need to register their fingerprint and have their photo taken the first time they cross the border.

The new system is expected to lead to delays on arrival at EU airports and ports as it will take border guards up to two minutes longer to process each passenger.

😍I can highly recommend Goa as a winter sun destination. We loved it when we visited last December. We flew Oman Air too who were great.
Muscat was a stopper over for us before lockdown and it’s a beautifully located, interesting city on the coast within easy reach of mountains and desert.

Combine Hanoi. Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and the tranquil beach resort of Quy Nhon, with a daytime rail journey on the famed Vietage luxury train.

🕍Begin in Hanoi, to absorb the history and culture of this magic city and country.

🏮Head south to Hoi An, where you will find the lantern-festooned lanes of the UNESCO-listed old town.

🚞Your next journey is by train in the luxurious Vietage carriage. The train eases away from the station at 8am, travelling south on a scenic route through central Vietnam. Each couple has their own private booth with sliding rattan screens. Enjoy warm pastries and coffee as you settle into the six-hour journey, entering a land of emerald-green rice fields. For part of the journey, you’ll have a coastal view on one side and the mountains on the other. The train doesn’t exceed 45 miles per hour, so there’s time to appreciate the scenery and observe the everyday lives of the Vietnamese people as you go. A three-course lunch is served with an extensive wine list. Later indulge in a head and shoulder treatment or a few drinks at the bar.
