Have you heard of the Arbore tribe ?๐Ÿค”

The Arbore, also known as Erbore or Ulde, is an ethnic group living in southern . It is estimated that their a total population of 6850, and the Abore population is divided into just four villages. They live in hot and flat areas and are mainly cattlemen. Like for the majority of other tribes of the Omo Valley, cows, goats and sheep are the main source of existence

Their name literally means: land of the bulls (Ar means bull and bore means land).

Ethiopia is home to a handful of interesting and isolated indigenous tribes. The Mursi people are a prime example. With one of the countryโ€™s most fascinating cultures, their rituals, language, body jewelry and animistic beliefs are worth exploring.

Did you know that ..

There are less than 10,000 Mursi people left in the world. The majority of them live in southwestern Ethiopia, in Omo National Park, one of the most isolated areas in Africa. The Mursi people also believe in a higher force that they call Tumwi. This force is believed to be a figure in the sky, often a rainbow or a bird. Their religion is often classified as animism.

What do you know the Mudimba people?๐Ÿค”

Mudimba people are a small nomadic agriculturalist and aboriginal people occupying Namibia border with Angola, on the Cunene River. They are mostly found in the town of Combelo. This indigenous people still hold on to their traditions and culture but have given in to modernity as a result of missionaries presence on their territory. They are stylish and fashionable people. They still engage in teeth sharpening.

Mudimba girls wear traditional beaded wigs which indicate that although they have reached puberty and have had their first menstrual period, they are not yet ready for marriage.

The Mursi Tribe are an ancient tribe that live in Ethiopia. They have many religious rituals, ceremonial dueling, dances and other festivities.

One of which being the Donga: Young, single men engage in stick-fighting to show their strength and ultimately to earn a wife. The winner is brought to the women who decide which of them will propose to him.

Held in the southwest of Chad, the Gerewol takes place at the end of the rainy season, around the last week of September.

Guerewol, (or Gerewol) is an annual courtship ritual competition among the Wodaabe Fula people of Niger. Young men dressed in elaborate ornamentation and made up in traditional face painting gather in lines to dance and sing, vying for the attentions of marriageable young women.
