While walking the dogs this evening The Northern Lights made an appearance - here is The Orchard Cottage surrounded by the The northern lights. They are an atmospheric phenomenon that’s regarded as the Holy Grail of skywatching. The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are beautiful dancing ribbons of light that have captivated people for millennia. But for all its beauty, this spectacular light show is a rather violent event.

Gary is unstoppable! Today was nothing short of exhilarating as he hooked not one, but two magnificent salmon! First up, a powerful 6lb salmon wrestled from the deep waters of Pool 7, right downstream of the iconic beach tree. But Gary wasn’t done yet—soon after, he struck again with a feisty 5lb salmon in the fast, streamy headwaters of the Pylon Pool. Both fish were carefully released back into the wild, ensuring that Gary’s unforgettable week on the river lives on!

What a fantastic way to celebrate Gary Brook’s 15th anniversary on the Tiptoe Beat! His achievements at both the Pulpit Pool and the Beach Pool today truly highlight his deep understanding of the river and his enduring passion for the sport. The 8lb salmon at the Pulpit Pool is especially impressive given the challenge of fishing in the Pulpit Pool (Pool 10) providing dynamic waters and following that with a 5lb sea trout at the Beach Pool (Pool 7) shows his skill and perseverance.
Gary’s legacy on Tiptoe continues to grow, and days like these remind us why fishing is not just about the catch, but the connection with the river and the memories created along the way. Here’s to many more years of success on the water!

Excitement is in the air as we gear up for the The volunteers are working hard to make this Sunday’s event truly unforgettable. I’m thrilled to be part of the new Wellbeing Tent, where I’ll be sharing the incredible benefits of Pilates alongside my dear friend, , who bakes the most mouthwatering bread you’ve ever tasted.
Together, we host the “Pause and Retreat Days” at Tiptoe Farm where we combine Pilates, bread-making, and mindful forest bathing along the beautiful River Till. Our next Retreat Day is Friday, 27th September—imagine a day filled with the soothing rhythm of kneading dough, the gentle stretch of Pilates, and Fishing Till Fishing and the calming embrace of nature. It’s the perfect blend of tactile, gentle, and utterly relaxing activities. Come along, learn some more, and book your space tomorrow.

10lb 2oz Salmon caught and returned in the Mile Marker (pool 3) by local angler today. He also caught an 8 oz sea trout in the Top Stream (pool 1 ) followed by a 2lb grilse in Top Stream.
