on her experience paddling the Amazon with us 👇

"To say that traveling with Amazon Canoe Challenge is meaningful would be an understatement. It is life-affirming. From an initial introduction to the rainforest via eco-lodge stay to one’s final paddle strokes on the water, every moment proves enriching and adventure-filled. There are long stretches of time spent on the river, complete with brilliant flora and fauna in every direction; joy-filled community visits, marked by immersive activities like arrow-making and fireside storytelling; rejuvenating hot springs to soothe the body after a day of physical activity; and sweet, star-filled nights under the canopy of the Amazon. Whether you’re the best paddler you know or simply game to have a new adventure, Amazon Canoe Challenge will show you a side of Peru that few travelers see. And as a result of your journey, you’ll feel newly connected to the natural world—one grateful, sun-kissed part of it."

Thanks Rachel!

FUNDRAISING & IMPACT ANNOUNCEMENT 👇

As many of you know already, the Challenge is about more than just an epic adventure. It's for a purpose.

It's about working towards our shared mission with our local partners here in the Amazon: Helping protect the Amazon for future generations.

How do we do that?

➡️ Fundraising:

On this year's Amazon Challenge, we've been Fundrasing to support .biostation and the indigenous community of Shipitiari.

➡️ New Opportunities & Training:

As always, the majority of our crew come from indigenous communities in the Amazon. Apart from that, we provide training to our crew that covers many essential skills for the tourism industry, and provide support for them to develop their own projects and businesses as well.

➡️ Local Impact:

Sourcing directly as much as possible all goods and services, to help the benefits stay where they are needed most.

➡️ Raising Awareness:

We don't hide the problems that the Amazon faces: Illegal mining, deforestation, drug trafficking, climate change and more. Through the Challenge, we want to help draw attention to the issues that the Amazon faces.
.

Most importantly, we couldn't do it without you! A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Amazon Challenge 2024.

On this year's Challenge alone, $18, 981.10 USD has been generated through fundraising, donations, and local impact.

The full report will be added to our website soon if you are interested in finding out more.
.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part, fundraised, donated and supported us in 2024.
.

We will be back next year! Visit our website to get involved in 2025. 💯

📍CHECKPOINT 4
.

We have officially arrived in the middle of nowhere, also known as Checkpoint 4.
.

After a day filled with wildlife and navigating through some of the smaller river channels, teams start to arrive at this remote beach campsite.

Many of the teams will be forced to camp out in the wild tonight as the sun is setting fast, and the window of arrival is closing ...

We've also spotted some Jaguar footprints at camp, so we might not be the only ones spending the night here tonight 👀
.

Check back tomorrow to see what happened.

📍STAGE 4 - SUP TEAMS

The SUP teams have well and truly pushed past the canoe teams by this stage and look to beat them to the next checkpoint by at least an hour today.

On the second half of the Challenge, the river has slowed down drastically, and the lighter weight of the SUP teams proves to be a huge advantage on this section.

With current drought conditions due to unusually low rainfall caused by climate change, it looks like there will be a few hours of extra paddling as a result..

Who would have thought that a 300kg canoe would slow you down after all? 🤷‍♀️

📍STAGE 4 - CANOE TEAMS

The days start getting longer with almost 70km today. It makes for a hard day's paddle when your canoe weighs almost 300kg..

Temperatures today reached above 30C - After passing the half way point, its starting to become obvious why we call it a Challenge. 2 more days to go.

📍CHECKPOINT 3

Teams cross the 100km mark reaching Checkpoint 3.

Hidden in deep in the jungle, the entrance is almost impossible to find without using your satellite tracker.

This area is home to a healthy population of Jaguar & Puma, as well as a bunch of tarantulas as teams will find out later tonight...

📍CHECKPOINT 2

Trying our hand at some traditional archery this afternoon and teams were feeling pretty good about their skills..

Until the local kids joined in to show them how it's done 😂

Hunting is still a daily part of life for many in the community here, and children learn from a young age how to handle a bow and arrow. The mango never stood a chance.

📍 CHECKPOINT 1

The first checkpoint on the Amazon Challenge brings teams to spend the night at a Harakmbut Community.

We are lucky enough to be hosted by some of the elders, who are the last remaining from their community to be born before contact with the outside world.

They tell us stories of how life was like before the first missionaries arrived, and share stories of their history passed down through generations over a campfire.

Visit our website to apply for 2025.

We had a special guest join us this year.. 👇
.

A huge thank you to for sponsoring a canoe on this year's Amazon Challenge.

Herbert Peralta from Cusco has been here representing their team on the river, alongside local team mate Jesús from the Indigenous community of Shipitiari.

We are sure they have enjoyed following the Intrepid canoe on the live tracking as they attempted to paddle over 300km through the remote Amazon.

If you didn't already know, the Amazon Challenge is a yearly adventure challenge fundraiser, that supports local communities and conservation projects in the Manu & Madre de Dios regions of Peru.

It also works to draw attention to the threats faced by the Peruvian Amazon, including deforestation, illegal mining and climate change.

Our team & Intrepid share the same mission - Creating a positive impact in the places we visit through adventure.

A huge thank you from our local team for your support!
See you in 2025 💯

We think that Herbert will have a few stories to share at the office when he gets back too 🛶
