Malta has been named the world’s best diving destination at the prestigious boot Düsseldorf Dive Awards 2025, held on January 24 at the Dive Centre in Hall 12 of the world’s largest yacht and water sports trade fair. Our islands were lauded for their exceptional offerings and conditions for divers, including a unique variety of wreck dive sites and underwater experiences.

Malta’s appeal as a diving destination lies in its perfect combination of natural and cultural treasures. The islands offer year-round diving opportunities, stunning underwater landscapes, world-class diving sites, as well as cutting-edge accessibility such as the Underwater Malta virtual museum.

In addition, Malta boasts over 40 diving centres catering for all levels, from beginner to technical diving, supported by two decompression chambers for safety. Sustainability is a key focus, with protected areas such as the “Ċirkewwa Marine Park” and Blue Flag-certified beaches highlighting Malta’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Playing a role in this award win was also the direct connection between German cities and Malta. With direct flights and excellent value for money, Malta is an easily accessible destination for diving enthusiasts. Its compact size ensures short distances to dive sites, further enhancing the convenience for visitors.

Last Friday, VisitMalta UK & Ireland had the pleasure of attending the 2024 ITTN Irish Travel Trade Awards at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, in association with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Voyages. This event wasn't just another date on the calendar; it was a fantastic opportunity to connect and express our gratitude to the incredible agents and suppliers who have supported one another throughout the year.

We’re especially excited about the new Aer Lingus route from Ireland to Malta, which opens up even more opportunities for Irish travelers to explore the beauty of our islands. We look forward to seeing its further development in 2025 and the positive impact it will have on our tourism sector.

Had the pleasure of visiting two fantastic travel agents in Dublin yesterday to share some wonderful news! ✈️ AerLingus has launched a brand new route to Malta, making it even easier to explore the stunning Mediterranean island!

First stop: Cassidy Travel in the beautiful Christmas-themed Dundrum Shopping Centre🎄! The team was buzzing with excitement about this new route, and we loved chatting with them about the incredible experiences Malta offers.

Next, we visited TUI on Talbot Street, where the team couldn’t stop raving about Malta! It’s no surprise — with its year-round sunshine, rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine, Malta is the perfect getaway for all types of travellers. We just returned from an unforgettable 5 days at the Travelosophers' Conference in stunning Malta!

It was a journey filled with adventures, culture, history, and wonderful bonding moments. From a full day of networking for agents and suppliers and sharing ideas for future collaborations, to delightful evenings featuring dine-arounds, along with a glamorous Hollywood-themed night at the 16th-century Mediterranean Conference Centre. Not to mention the exciting treasure hunt through the enchanting streets of Valletta!

We are very proud to have hosted this incredible event and deeply grateful to all the agents and suppliers we connected with along the way.
