Jabal Arafat (Arabic: عرفات جبل (is a small, granite mountain in the plain of Arafat, about 20km from the Ka’bah. Standing at Arafat is a fundamental requirement of Hajj. Pilgrims travel here from Mina on the second day of Hajj (9th Dhul Hijjah). The mountain is also known as Jabal al-Rahmah, meaning “Mountain of Mercy”.

Standing on Arafat is an essential part of the Hajj; whoever misses the standing on Arafat has missed Hajj, because the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم (said: “Hajj is Arafat.” [al-Hakim]

Jabal e Thawr is one of the mountains that surround the valley where Makkah lies. It was within a cave here that The Prophet (PBUH) and his companion Abu Bakr (RA) hid for three days from the Quraish tribe. To protect the two men, Allah (SWT) had a spider spin a web at the cave’s entrance, preventing their enemies from seeing within and finding them.

It is believed that in order to protect the two of them from the searching troops, Allah had a spider weave a web at the cave entrance on the third day of their stay. The web prevented the soldiers from finding them, and thus, saved them from getting caught.
