St Michaels Mount or 'Karrek Loos yn Koos' (in Cornish) is located to the east of Penzance in Cornwall, and is one of the most photographed locations in the UK. This abbey is situated in a small tidal island at 57 acres which was built by Benedictine monks (the same religious order that also constructed a sister abbey at Mont St-Michel in France) during the 12th century.

The mount has featured in a number of films, series & novels, including the 1979 film Dracula, 1983 James Bond film Never Say Never Again, 2003 film Johnny English, in 2012 fantasy adventure movie Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box, Giles Kristian's 2018 historical fiction novel Lancelot, in 2020 for "The Secrets of Winter," a murder mystery written by Nicola Upson and in 2021 for the Game of Thrones sequel series House of the Dragon.

Did you know part of the island was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1995 for its geology?

The Needles, The Isle Of Wight

What was once a tall and thin rock cliff, that gave the group its name, collapsed in the late 1700s. Now, the row of three distinctive stacks of chalk rises to a height of 30 meters from the sea off the western coast of the Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight has much to offer for tourists/locals of all ages including boat trips, colored sands, a sweet factory, glass making, a traditional family Carousel, Victorian games, and a wide variety of shops and places to eat. And don't forget the beach! The Alum Bay Glass Studio and Isle of Wight Sweet Manufactory are based at the Needles Landmark Attraction and you can observe glass being blown!

Have a ride in the famous chairlift which transports visitors from the top of the cliff to Alum Bay beach and back, giving the best view of the Isle of Wight's famous Needles Lighthouse.
