Travelling to the UK and need an ETA? Here is what you need to know!

From 9 April, it will cost £16 to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). This is required for short visits to the UK for tourism, business, short-term study, certain work, or transit through a UK airport.

👉 ETA eligibility depends on the nationality shown on the traveler’s passport. Everyone traveling needs an ETA – including babies and children – and you can apply on behalf of your family members

New UK visa financial requirements in 2025!

💡 Did you know? As of January 1, 2025, the UK has implemented higher financial thresholds for various visa categories:

• Student Visa Applicants: Now need to demonstrate at least £1,136 per month for living expenses outside London and £1,483 per month within London

• Skilled Worker Visa Applicants: The salary threshold for certain categories of workers will increase on 9 April 2025.

• Family Visa Applicants: As of 11 April 2024, the Sponsorship income threshold has risen to £29,000 per year, with no confirmed expected increase.

Ever wondered why the UK changes its clocks twice a year?

Adjusting clocks began as a way to save energy and make better use of daylight. During British Summer Time (BST), clocks move forward, providing longer evenings and reducing the need for artificial lighting. When clocks revert to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), mornings are lighter, aligning daylight hours more closely with people's routines.

Every year, the UK adjusts its clocks twice:

**Forward 1 hour at 1 a.m. on the last Sunday in March, marking the start of British Summer Time (BST), with brighter evenings and shorter mornings.
**Back 1 hour at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday in October, returning to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Upcoming UK clock changes:

2025: Forward – 30 March | Back – 26 October
2026: Forward – 29 March | Back – 25 October
2027: Forward – 28 March | Back – 31 October

UK eVisa: The transition is underway!

The UK has officially moved to a digital immigration system, replacing physical visa documents with eVisas. Over 4 million UK visa holders have successfully created their UKVI account—but an estimated 600,000 people still need to switch.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Home Office has extended the grace period from 31 March 2025 to 1 June 2025.

This means:
✅If your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or EUSS Biometric Residence Card (BRC) expired on or after 31 December 2024, you can still use it for international travel until 1 June 2025.

⚠️ From 2 June 2025, expired BRPs and BRCs will no longer be accepted as proof of status when travelling.
