Important Holiday Hours for TB Testing Centres in South Africa

Please be aware of the following closures for TB testing centres over the festive period:
Cape Town
** Intercare Century City: Will be closed from 23 December 2024 - 1 January 2025, and will reopen on 2 January 2025. Additionally, they will also be closed on 12 and 18 December 2024.
Durban
** ShipMed Medical Services: Will be closed from 20 December 2024 - 3 January 2025, and will reopen on 6 January 2025.
Pretoria
** Hatmed Medical Centre: Will be closed from 13 December at 12:00 PM until 6 January 2025 and will reopen on 7 January 2025.
** IOM Migration Health Assessment Centre will remain open throughout the festive season, with the exception of public holidays, being 16 December, 25 and 26 December and 1 January 2025.

UK ETA: Expanded List of Eligible Countries!

The UK has updated its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, requiring millions of visitors to apply for this digital travel approval. The ETA applies to visa-exempt visitors and is linked directly to the traveller’s passport.

Who Needs an ETA?
Now: Nationals from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
From 8 January 2025: Countries like the USA, Canada, and Australia.
From 2 April 2025: Eligible European nationals.

If you hold a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), most BRPs will expire on 31 December 2024. After this date, your BRP will no longer be valid to prove your immigration status.

You can continue using your BRP until it expires.
After expiry, you’ll need to use an eVisa to prove your status.

No Emergency or Temporary Passports Will Be Issued

As per the official notice, the issuance of temporary passports was discontinued on 1 September 2014. This decision stems from concerns about reliability, corruption, and reduced necessity due to improved turnaround times for permanent passports.

What You Need to Know:
1. Plan ahead and apply for your passport well in advance to avoid disappointment.
2. Emergency Travel Certificates (ETCs) are issued only under specific circumstances, such as:
-Lost or stolen passports while abroad.
-Emergency travel to countries that accept ETCs for urgent cases (e.g., family emergencies).
