✧ Richard experiences the wilds of Borneo ✧
Borneo is an island of rainforests, volcanoes, idyllic tropical islands, and caves providing a home to a huge variety of wildlife including orangutan, proboscis monkey and exceptional birdlife.
Richard was recently on the ground to experience the wonders of Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo. His time included trekking through primary rainforest at Danum Valley where he was fortunate enough to spot a range of wildlife including gibbons and orangutans. Another highlight was exploring the many caves of Mulu National Park and watching millions of bats leave Deer Cave at dusk. Offering a mixture of wildlife with soft-adventure, Borneo is a great destination for active couples and adventurous families. Summer is the best time to visit as the humidity is more manageable and fruiting season in the forests makes it easier to see the wildlife. This makes it a great option for families during the school summer holidays.

🏯✨ Discover the unique Yongding Tulou in Fujian Province, China!
These unique circular structures have lasted for centuries and show the rich culture of the Hakka people. In many ways each Tulou is like its own village, with several extended families living together, and some of the largest Tulou can house several hundred residents. The ground floor was traditionally reserved for livestock and food storage and preparation, while the upper storeys were the living quarters. The Hakka Tulou have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008 and most are still occupied to this day, although the future of these unique residences is uncertain as many of the younger generation are moving out to more modern accommodation in China’s ever-growing cities.
