We have been very busy recently, but took the opportunity to freshen up the studio with a new paint colour. It’s calm, it’s relaxing, and we love it.

It’s been a busy summer, however due to a late cancellation we have availability this Saturday into early next week.

If you have guests visiting and need an extra bed, this might well suit you. Self contained, full kitchen and separate shower room. Off street parking.

We’re very lucky to be able to have Airbnb to organise our bookings. It leaves us to focus on welcoming guests and making sure the apartment is ready for them.

Well for fans of sustainability we’re pleased to say you can now sleep a little easier knowing that the whole house is now sporting lovely new photovoltaic solar panels supplying our electricity.

It was lovely to receive this beautiful card from last weekend’s guests. We often only meet people briefly when they arrive, so it’s always nice to hear they’ve enjoyed their stay.

We’ve had a cancellation next week, so if you have friends, family visiting or even just fancy a couple of nights to yourself, take a look via the Airbnb link for our availability from Wednesday 13th September.

The studio is a comfortable retreat to suit a couple. Fully equipped kitchen, shower room, WiFi and off-road parking, it’s a self contained space where you can relax.

We’re having a lovely Summer welcoming returning and new guests for a stay in the studio. Recently we met someone from Portugal who came to visit family.

Gerri used to live in Portugal and last year we did a family road trip across Europe to Lagos.

Hosting international guests is always so interesting, and we often find that we have lots in common and plenty to learn.

The studio is fairly busy for the rest of the year, but there is some availability in the diary for short stays, and there’s also some bigger gaps late October into November.

We look forward to welcoming you, your family or your friends in the future.

We are very grateful to our recent guests for their patience while we’ve undertaken some serious landscaping in the front garden.

However, we’re also very pleased to have made some improvements that will make your stay nicer.

We’ve enlarged the studio patio space, added a dedicated path, and improved the parking space and moved the gatepost so it’s easier to park.

We are very pleased with how it’s turned out and we hope it makes your stay more comfortable.

It’s a lovely sunny Bank Holiday weekend and we’ve just had a meeting with our builder to finalise plans for some hard landscaping in front of the house and studio.

The works are booked for early July and will both smarten up the front and give a dedicated parking space for guests.

While we’re aware that these works will be a bit messy for a few day, the results will certainly make it worth while for everyone coming to stay.

We’ve blocked a few unbooked dates during the works, so if you see are calendar is booked, it’s always worth asking if you need a place to stay. We might still have availability to suit you.

6 years ago we started hosting guests in The Blackbird Studio and while we didn’t know what we were getting into, it’s been a really wonderful experience that has rewarded us with new friends, returning guests and at times a feeling that we were helping people who needed something a little more than a hotel room.

We’ve always tried to make it a comfortable space that suits short stays without compromising on facilities - even if you only stay a couple of nights, you can cook a meal and wash your clothes. This year we’ve installed a new shower cubicle, replaced the washer-dryer and added a tiled splash back to the kitchen.

It’s always especially nice to read guest reviews and welcome people back regularly. It makes us feel we’re getting it right.

We’ve some availability this month as well as in the run up to Summer, so if you have guests coming to stay, The Blackbird Studio might be the right fit.
