❄️❄️ With low temperatures comes frosted windscreens. So we thought we’d take a moment to help you clear those windscreens without causing damage and to avoid penalties ❄️❄️

✔️ Do:
* Make extra time before your journey to completely clear the windscreen.
* Check your wipers are switched off before starting the engine. The wipers may be frozen which could cause damage to the motor or the rubber could tear off.
* Switch on the heaters for both front and rear windscreens.
* Use an absorbent cloth to wipe the inside.
* Use de-icer and a scrapper for the outside.

❌ Don’t:
* Pour boiling water on your windscreen. Boiling water freezes faster than cool water! This can do more damage to your windscreen and possibly cause it to shatter.
* Use any sharp or abrasive objects I.e. knives, scourers etc.
* Leave your vehicle engine running whilst unattended. It is against the Law and will void your insurance should anything happen.
* Use your wipers until they are defrosted.
* Drive off until your windscreens are all fully defrosted.

👮🏼 The Law:
Rule 229 of the Highway Code states that before setting off in the winter drivers should make sure that they clear all snow and ice from their windows. Failure to do so could you land you with a £60 fine and 3 penalty points on your driving licence.
