The IoD and Education and Training Foundation were delighted to deliver the Governance Professionals Leadership Programme for the fourth cohort of skilled professionals in FE colleges.

Led by course leaders Paul Munden CDir and Sheelagh Duffield, participants were equipped with the expertise to support effective boards and tackle strategic challenges with confidence.

This program helped delegates learn to anticipate and solve strategic challenges, support the Chair and develop an effective board, and serve as a respected advisor on governance.

🎓 We’re pleased to see the cutting of red tape this National Apprenticeship Week!

👩‍🏭 On Tuesday, the government has announced that apprentices over the age of 19 will no longer be required to undertake English and maths functional skills qualifications in order to complete their course. This means that up to 10,000 more apprentices would be able to qualify a year as a result of the changes, according to the Department for Education (DfE).

✅ In January this year, we called for increased flexibility in English and Maths apprenticeship rules, and highlighted the need for this reform. Data from our Policy Voice survey reinforced this, showing strong support for giving employers greater control over apprenticeship requirements: https://lnkd.in/drMFr9n8

❗ Now, businesses leaders will have more of a say in the journey of their apprentices —making it easier to develop the talent they need.

She discussed key risks in the global economy and their potential impact on the UK, exploring both the challenges and opportunities they present. From market trends to economic forecasts, attendees gained valuable insights to inform their business strategies.
