South east England holds a lot of history… it’s been a site of invasion as far back as the Roman invasion 2000 years ago.

As a result there’s a stunning architectural story here… in Rye there’s a pub called the Mermaid Inn dating back to the 1400’s and rumoured to be the meeting place of the terrifying Hawkhurst Gang!

St Michael’s Mount perches on an island away from the British mainland but walking across is possible at low tide because of a granite causeway!

The earliest buildings date to the 12th century and there’s even a story about an 18 foot giant called Comoran who was slayed by a well known legend called Jack!

Our next three posts are some of our favourite architecture in the UK! Here we have the iconic and historic Castle Coombe, famous for its connections with Stephen Spielberg's blockbuster War Horse.

Some buildings here date back to the 13th century and are constructed with the famous Cotswold stone, a limestone sourced from the region. The Giza Pyramids were also built out of a form of limestone!

The UK is home to nearly 100 varieties of sheep, and most will spend their lives on one or more of three tiers, upland, lowland and hill. From the breeds of the Welsh Mountain, Swaledale, and Dorset Down to the famous Cotswolds Lions!

Arguably one of the most mysterious sites in England, Stonehenge probably raises more questions than answers.

Some say it is a landing area for Extra Terrestrials, others suggest it's an ancient calendar for tracking the seasons.

According to Arthurian legend, it was created by Merlin the Wizard, a 12th-century account by Geoffrey of Monmouth tells us the inner bluestones have healing properties. Strangely, however, the proposed origin of these bluestones lies just under 200 miles away in Wales.

Abandoned engine houses lay dormant all over Cornwall's craggy landscape, in recent centuries the region became the mining centre of the world!

In the late 1800s the industry collapsed and the skilled Cornish miners moved to the Americas to Australia and beyond... also taking their Cornish pasties with them!

The Dartmoor Ponies have been living In Devon since the Middle Ages and have a hardy personality in order to deal with the changeable weather!

The ‘Cotswold Lion’ sheep were originally brought to the hilly terrain of the Cotswolds by the Romans. During the middle ages, the wool created a great degree of wealth allowing merchants to build beautiful manor houses and churches.
